A celebrity slapper, without any apparent talent or ability complains about a very funny comedian and an investigation is launched. Oh, and 50 people, from a population of 70,000,000 complained too.
Frankie Boyle told an admitedly rather dodgy joke and the self-righteously indignant mob goes into overdrive, yet again. The gist of the joke was that Jordan and Peter Andre were in a legal battle over custody of their disabled son, the loser gets to keep him. Tasteless? Probably. Funny? It was to me. If you are easily offended don't watch Frankie Boyle, it's quite simple really.
If all it takes is 50 people and a rough old publicity seeker with big boobs to have a TV comedian investigated by officialdom, we could have some real fun. Personally I find Jordan more offensive than Frankie Boyle. I'm sure I could find 50 others who feel the same, so next time she's on telly it's onto the official complaints line methinks.

Jon Gaunt, Ignorant Pigs and Nazis
If you didn't know Jon Gaunt lost his job as a shock jock, a kind of poor man's Howard Stern , for upsetting a politically correct prat from South London if I remember. As the politically correct moron was gobbing off his authoritarian bile on a particular issue Gaunt likened him to a Nazi and I believe then called him "an ignorant pig". For this he was referred to Ofcom and sacked by the wimps and farts at TalkSport.
I used to listen to Gaunt occasionally but found him annoying, especally his habit of referring to himself in the third person such as "Gaunty did this" or "Gaunty thinks the other". But if he really pissed me off I changed channels. Gaunt broke no laws but was sacked for offending somebody, somewhere, in some way. How our freedom of speech has been eroded by the pinko-liberal corrupting politically correct morons currently in charge. Personally I found everything Blair did or said offensive, shame I couldn't get him sackd for it. Gaunt will continue to fight his case and is appealing, I wish him luck.
Today I heard him interviewed on the BBC by Richard Bacon. Of course Bacon was all for regulators censoring what the public hear because the wet fart didn't think presenters "should offend people". When pushed by Gaunt he couldn't define what he meant by "offensive" quite obviously, because what causes one person offence doesn't another. What the patronising plonker (Bacon) seemed to be saying was that if there was no regulator, costing us £144m a year by the way, then the airwaves would be filled with presenters effing and blinding all day. Well you, Bacon, might be that kind of ignorant prat, please don't assume that all people are as sad and pathetic as you.
I agreed with Gaunt 100% in his assertion that an individuals off button is the best form of censorship.
Oh yes, the BBC isn't covered by Ofcom, it is self-regulated by the BBC Trust.

Death By Boredom-The Daily Politics

This dinnertime I made the mistake of watching The Daily Politics on BBC2. There were three grey men (left) coming out with vacuous platitudes on behalf of Labour, the Tories and the Lib Dems. They were campaigning for the general election apparently, but proved why record numbers of people will probably not bother to vote in May.
They were smug, aloof and far more detached from the real world than even I thought politicians had become. They still, after all the venom directed at them over recent months, behaved like feudal lords with a God given right to be in their positions. They made me want to puke. They were savaged by broadcaster Jon Gaunt but even when Gaunt directed his most aggressive condemnations at them they continued to sit with smug smiles on their fat, bloated faces.
The thought of another five months of this bollocks seriously makes me ponder leaving the country. Please, please Cyclops call a snap general election and let's have done with it. There is a very strong argument now, not just for some form of proportional representation, but for fixed term parliaments.
Between now and May 6th I wouldn't mind putting money on the suicide rate rocketing as the general election campaign bores even hardened politicos to death. I've worked in parliamentary by-election campaigns where we had to stop canvassing because party workers were being abused by voters angry at the number of leaflets arriving, canvassers knocking on their doors and telephone canvassers ringing. That over a short but intense period. A five month campaign by parties led by such dynamic and colourful characters as Cyclops, Cameron and Clegg can only drive us all to ponder whether we can or want to survive and, I suspect, many will choose death as a much more attractive option.
If you want to know the identities of the three pricks on The Daily Politics then sorry can't remember. But they have 643 lookalikes in the House of Commons, it could have been any of them.

The Redbreast by Jo Nesbo
I have had pops at, and sometimes defended Jon Gaunt, the former TalkSport presenter who is now ex-presenter after offending the PC thought police. This time I am thanking him.
It must be nearly two years now since I heard him singing the praises of Henning Mankell's Kurt Wallander books. He droned on about them so much that I had to go out and try one. Within weeks I had read the lot and am eternally grateful to Jon Gaunt for the introduction.
Previously I could take or leave crime books but I am now hooked, especially on Scandinavian crime writers. They really do fill their books with the darkness of Scandinavian winters and the characters, especially the central characters, are never the stylised perfect human beings of much crime fiction, but are flawed and human in a strangely refreshing, not to say reassuring way.
From Mankell I have gone on to try Ake Edwardson, who is another superb Swedish writer, but have now struck gold again as I did with Mankell. If you are wondering what to get somebody for Christmas then look no further than Jo Nesbo and his Harry Hole books.
Harry is a detective in Oslo and is an even more fragile being than Wallander. The book I am reading now, 'The Redbreast', is one I can't put down and is a fascinating mix of crime, political thriller and historical novel with the themes intertwined.
I'm on a long train journey tomorrow and can't wait to have four hours just sat devouring my Nesbo book. And if you do buy it and don't like it, or he/she doesn't like it, you can blame me!

Gaunt Sacked
I've blogged before about my views on Jon Gaunt. In a nutshell I think he's just a big gobby nitwit with little to offer, however, that does not mean I want him sacking, just that I don't like him.
In yet another erosion of free speech Gaunt has now been sacked by TalkSport. His crime? Calling a Nazi councillor from Rebridge a Nazi for supporting a ban on smokers fostering children.

It's All Bollocks Really
What is happening to the world? I was unfortunate enough to pick up a copy of the Daily Mirror today a Preston station and had forgotten, it's that long since I read it, what a load of sanctimonious crap it contains.
It seems the Mirror has started a new puritan campaign to clean up the airwaves and get rid of bad language. Tell you what, if there is bad language on TV or radio either switch off or switch over, easy. The targets for their righteous indignation today were those notorious foul-mouthed miscreants Ant and Dec. Yes, those loveable Geordie cheeky chappies who get the hearts of the nation's grandmothers fluttering whenever they pop up on our screens.
And what torrent of foul and disgusting language had they unleashed on an unsuspecting nation? My, they had used the word bollocks when it was only 20 minutes past the 9-00pm watershed. To compound the felony they had used the word not once, not twice but three times. And it wasn't even gratuitous, a contestant on 'I'm a Celebrity.....' had actually eaten a kangaroo testicle, otherwise known as a bollock.
Strange to think that the Daily Mirror's view is that everything else in the world is so perfect it has a fit of outraged self-righteous indignation and moral outrage at that. All bollocks in my view!

Jon Gaunt And Health And Safety Nazis
I'm no great fan of Jon Gaunt and didn't listen to the show that got him suspended from TalkSport Radio, but on what I have read he has my sympathy on this one.
The PC brigade throw the word "Nazi" at anybody who they disagree with, whether they do show sympathies towards the National Socialist German Workers' Party or not. Why such uproar when one of the PC brigade gets it thrown back at them? Let's face it, the word Nazi means bugger all these days it is so overused by most of us.
I wonder if Gaunt, and last week Clarkson, would have copped so much stick if Brand and Woss hadn't been such plonkers. I fear now that any group who dislike a particular broadcaster will be able to organise themselves, fired up with righteous indignation, to make enough complaints to the authorities that the wimps in charge will suspend or fire said broadcaster.
RIP free speech.

Jon Gaunt-Biggest Prat On Radio
A Gaunt looking Mussolini (Right)Listening to Jon Gaunt on TalkSport is a bit like watching telly when they show a surgeon carrying out an operation. I can't bear to watch but have the odd morbid desire to peep through my fingers at the screen. That's how it is listening to the biggest prat, with the biggest mouth and the smallest brain in broadcasting. Every now and then I have to put his show on but immediately wince and turn over again. Yes it always is as bad as I remember.
This morning I heard him blasting Patrick Kielty for joking about not getting a driving ban. Kielty had been caught doing 101 mph in a 60 zone in the wilds of the Scottish borders. Cue self righteous indignation from the prat who has the supreme arrogance and egomania to refer to himself in the third person as 'Gaunty'. No doubt, being the self proclaimed best father in the world he came over all "he could have killed a child, and I feel things like that more than anybody because I'm a Dad". He proclaims his fatherhood as often as Walliams and Lucas declare themselves to be ladies in Little Britain's transvestite sketches. Makes you wonder. Personally, as Kielty injured nobody nor damaged anything, I think he should never have been taken to court. Of course, the authoritarian Gaunt thinks he should have been banned, nothing like a sense of proportion eh 'Gaunty'.
The rumour is that Gaunt could well be standing in the Euro elections next year. God help any political party so lacking in judgement, or just downright stupid enough, to have him on their list.
By the way, Kielty's joke on receiving a fine rather than a ban, was that he had been looking forward to a ban with the price of petrol at the moment.
