Iraq And Afghanistan-Time To Leave

We should never have gone into either Iraq or Afghanistan. If my country had been invaded as those two countries were, I too would now be joining forces with people I may despise normally to fight the invader. Sadly our troops are being killed for an unjust war and the government should be got rid of for that reason, regardless of what they have done to the economy.

If the 'war on terror' is used to justify invading Afghanistan then what about any number of other countries that could be invaded on that pretext?

In additon to invading countries being morally wrong, Afghanistan is such an alien and complex society that 'victory', whatever that may be, is highly unlikely.

Sadly there has been a death today in Pamplona, the first in years, and a Manchester University student is in hospital after being gored. Generously the town of Pamplona pay to fly dead people home, the man today was from Madrid.

MP in Au Pair Scandal

It's a sad sign of the times when a scandal involving an MP and an au pair is not sexual but financial.

Tory MP Jonathan Djanogly has been accused of paying his au pair from his allowances. The millionaire Tory claims he was actually paying a cleaner. His family only spend on average 3 days a week in that particular home so £400 a month sounds a bloody good deal for that particular cleaner/au pair.

I must admit the expenses thing is getting dreary now. A good old fashioned sex scandal would be very interesting at the moment. Mind you in these politically correct times it would probably involve Lady Mandy and some fresh faced young researcher. Yuk!

The Race Gestapo

A project which involved sending out fake CVs in a bid to expose racism cost the taxpayer almost £170,000, the government has acknowledged.

The frightening thing is that people have sat on their lazy backsides and allowed the race relations lobby to act in whatever way it sees fit, regardless of the ethics and morality of those actions.

What is funny is I know somebody who received one of these fake job applications, they were so obvious that of course the fake was immediately offered an interview. Their suspicions were confirmed when invited fake then immediately withdrew the perfect application.

The Vulgarity of the Football Fan

Football seems to mirror the nation, quite apt I suppose in our case as football did originate here. Top class football is a vulgar corporate mess of greed and obscenity that lost its soul to money some time in the '80s.

Many of us who followed what are now Premier League clubs from birth have gone, walked away probably never to return. Some of us now follow FC United of Manchester others follow other non-league clubs. Apart from Manchester United and the Glazers, there was Wimbledon, shamefully franchised out to Milton Keynes to become the newest parasite club who no proper football fan would pay a penny to watch. Real football people should instead watch AFC Wimbledon, a proper club. Look at the obscenity of Chelsea, Leeds United and many, many others to the pain and anguish of real fans. Yes, incredibly I do actually feel sorry for the genuine Leeds United fans.

If you really care about football, even if you don't, you should buy David Conn's excellent book The Beautiful Game? Conn beautifully details how football has sold any values and decency it had to make a few rich men even richer while the pathetic new football fan empties his pockets like some kind of robot.

So what got me thinking about this today? A pathetic imbecile, who it seems supports Manchester City, accusing me of being bitter because City are now the 'richest club in the world'. Big deal!

Actually it's imbecililc morons like that who have helped destroy football. More interested in the balance sheet than the history or traditions of the game. They're welcome to it.

We all know the story of Ronnie Biggs and how an innocent man died some years later from injuries received in the robbery, but surely enough is enough. Biggs is an old man in ill health and probably not long for this world. Jack Straw and the government are making him suffer because of their sheer petty-minded vindictiveness. He is no danger to the public and should be released immediately.

Meanwhile this report, from the BBC tells the shocking tale of how assorted murderers, robbers and rapists are still wandering the streets after doing a bunk while out on parole, on licence and whatever other packages the government has to help convicts prepare for release.

Perhaps it's time we released Ronnie Biggs and banged Jack Straw up in his old cell. While we're at it we could bang up the last few Home Secretaries too. The last couple of Prime Ministers could do with a spot of chokey as well. In fact let's get another jail built for a few thousand politicians from the last 25 years or more, after all, we need to get all the dangerous nutters off the streets don't we?

Ideas Above Your Station? You're Sectioned

This article by Christopher Booker yesterday is very disturbing.

A man who is distantly related to some European royals, and has relatives in senior positions in the army, asks to collect his children from within the school gates for security reasons.

As the government constantly tell us how loony terrorists lurk around every corner, this chap seems to be doing the best by his family. Either that or he might be slightly eccentric, either way he didn't deserve what came next.

When he and his wife turned up at the school to collect his offspring they were nicked. He was sectioned under the mental health act for "delusional beliefs" and his children taken into care.

The social services, no surprise there, and the police had to release him a couple of days later when he was proved to be perfectly sane. That is an act of fascism.

Those who claim they have nothing to hide so nothing to fear from ID cards, CCTV etc., etc. take note. Wake up and realise that the state and all its agents are to be feared, whether you are innocent or not.

What Terror Threat?

Sir John Sawers wife plastered all sorts of personal information on the internet via Facebook, details such as where their flat in London is, names of friends and so on. The story is in today's Mail on Sunday.

You don't have to be George Smiley to think that this raises questions about the next head of MI6. It seems that he has also told all kinds of extended family members and friends that he is about to become "C", or maybe his wife did. Either way, his security has obviously been compromised as well as his judgement being brought into question.

But Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, doesn't think it's a big deal. In that case Miliband, why all the draconian anti-terror legislation against the ordinary citizens of the UK?

Honduras-Restoring Democracy

I spent some time in Honduras in 1990, mainly in San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa and a little town on the Gulf of Fonseca called Cedeno (pictured). On the beach at Cedeno there was a constant passing above of UN helicopters flying between listening posts in Nicaragua on one side and El Salvador on the other. But Honduras was stable.

Last week there was a coup after their right of centre president decided to go loopy and declare himself socialist. He then allied himself with Chavez in Venezuela and Morales in Bolivia. Just like these anti-democratic socialists Zelaya then started to dismantle Honduras's democratic constitution. Last week he was overthrown, an interim government is in place and democracy will imminently be restored.

It is always sad when the military intervene but in Latin America they are essential. The Honduran military were left with no option. There is a history in Latin America of leftist despots blighting and impoverishing the country with the military eventually intervening to restore democracy. Alvaro Vargas Losa, of the Independent Institute takes a slightly less positive view in this article, which is well worth a read. He believes upcoming constitutional votes would have rejected Zelaya's march to dictatorship. I disagree, I believe Zelaya would have made sure he won, one way or the other. Or, like the EU he would have just come back from a slightly different angle, with the result he wanted.

When faced with socialism I'm all for military intervention, with a swift return to democracy.

Another Turd Flushed Away

Another Labour MP, Harry Cohen, has decided to step down because he is suffering "stress" after being found out screwing the taxpayer.

Let's hope he has a long and happy retirement, preferably in a straightjacket. Or maybe after a few months in clink following a fraud investigation. Sod it, both!

How the hell does he think he can get way with claiming thousands in second home allowance when he represents an East London seat?
