What a change these last twenty years. If nothing else the hard men in the Middle East have been replaced by stone age nutters in the so-called 'Arab Spring'. The western nations, and soppy politicos who actually believed despots would be replaced by liberal democrats, colluded to endanger us all and we are now seeing the consequences with Islamist nutters kicking off all over the region.
But we still have Morrissey. This one from twenty years ago:

Police State-Shoplifters Of The World Unite!
![]() |
| The bastard who did this should hang! |
She was banging on, with that smug look on her face, about fines for that awful crime of leaving your wheelie bin lid up and the even more anti-social crime of leaving your wheelie bin out too early.
The world is crumbling, it looks like we're limbering up for bombing the crap out of Syria and the unelected EU dictator of Italy wants to close down Italian football and that silly cow is banging on about wheelie bin lids!
The thrust of what she was on about? Well, our glorious unelected government has lowered the fines for the above offences to a mere £80. She proudly proclaimed that the previous fines were disproportionate and the new fines put the guilty on a par with shoplifters. Oh yippy bloody doo! So our glorious nanny state equates putting your bin out a day early with shoplifting. Says it all really.
Over to you Morrissey and The Smiths, a song that has never been more relevant:

Happy as a Pig in Muck
I've had two weeks of absolute mither, but just received some fantastic news. The hassle has been worth it, but more of that anon.
Me and my dad have also got our tickets for the play-off final, FC United against Bradford Park Avenue on Sunday. Also I'll be joining him and some friends for a day of cricket and a fundraising lunch at Old Trafford tomorrow. So at the moment I'm as happy as a pig in muck.
I've put this clip on here before but it is from probably the finest concert I ever attended and felt like popping it up again. Seems five minutes ago since Mrs B and yours truly were part of this happy throng at Old Trafford, but it was actually 2004. By the way Morrissey, you were talking crap about the Falkland Islands. It's up to the Falkland Islanders to decide their future, not the UK and certainly not Argentina. Stick to music.

Morrissey/The Smiths-I Want The One I Cant Have!
I often think of the opening lines to this classsic Smiths number, especially in relation to somebody I've suffered these last few weeks:
"On the day that your mentality, decides to try, and catch up with your biology". It's better than being happy in the haze of a drunken hour I suppose.

Stuff The European Union, You're The One For Me Fatty!
So the nanny state is whining again about big people, claiming that a quarter of British women are obese. The figures are contained in a report from Eurostat, the EU’s statistics agency, which compares obesity levels in 19 countries from 2008/2009. Big deal, more bunkum from our EU masters!
I think we are fortunate in this country to have some damn fine women in all shapes and sizes, but of course, the EU wants boring uniformity. We say that variety is the spice of life, and we certainly have a variety of spicy women in the UK. And long may it last.
So, in praise of the more full figured British women here are a couple of songs I think are particularly good:

Morrissey To Sue NME
As I've said before, there is more tripe written about Morrissey than probably any other current entertainer. Here is my last post about the singer and people writing bullshit about him.
Morrissey is now suing the NME for defamation. In an interview he was quoted as saying:

"With the issue of immigration, it's very difficult because although I don't have anything against people from other countries, the higher the influx into England the more the identity disappears.Nothing wrong with that I'd have thought. But Morrissey claims that the NME have twisted his words and defamed him. No surprise there with the NME! Even the interviewer has disowned the article.
"Other countries have held on to their basic identity, yet it seems to me that England has thrown it away...England is a memory now. Other countries have held on to their basic identity, yet it seems to me England was thrown away."

It's Friday, Morrissey Time!
There must have been more bullshit written about Morrissey than about any other singer in the world. One semi-literate blogger has even claimed that Morrissey has people searched on their way into concerts and any meat found is confiscated. I assume he meant ham butties and not human flesh! The truth is that the food stalls at a Morrissey festival appearance recently stopped selling meat when he was on stage, it was a tribute to his vegetarianism.
So, as it's Friday here's a bit of classic Morrissey, sans bullshit:

Morrissey-First Of The Gang To Die
It's hard to believe that it's coming up to seven years since my beloved and I headed off to watch Morrissey at Old Trafford. For me especially it was a marriage made in heaven, the musical genius that is Morrissey playing at the home of the world's greatest cricket club, Lancashire.
Here is a flavour to give you an idea what a fantastic night we had. In fact we still get sentimental over it when we hear this song:
And the lad grew up quarter of a mile round the corner from the ground.

Morrissey and the Chinese
Morrissey's done it again, and the Guardian reading pinko liberal misfits are spitting feathers and accusing him of racism.
If you don't know Morrissey is a musical genius and dedicated vegan and animal welfare campaigner. Personally I have no problem with eating meat, indeed foie gras is one of my favourites, and I enjoy the odd bullfight. But in a free world we are all entitled to our likes and dislikes and are free to criticise those we disapprove of.
Morrissey's mistake has been to take free speech literally, how very naive. In a magazine interview he described the Chinese, because of their appalling treatment of animals generally, in circuses especially, as 'almost a subspecies'. Fair comment in my view. Even as a dedicated meat eater there are limits and I think the Chinese, as with their human rights record, are a pretty vile mob. Their treatment of humans is what really angers me, and the fact that the pinko liberals prefer to ignore it and instead slam the USA for the odd execution just highlights the left's stinking hypocrisy.
It's worth Googling Morrissey to have a laugh at the bleeding heart liberals' response to his commonsense. Here is a good starter, The Guardian's coverage.

New Government Announced-Shoplifters!
Whatever the occasion Morrissey seems to have said something pithy and to the point. At least shoplifters weren't planning a future war last night on Channel 4!
As long as they are bickering about the keys to No 10 they're not passing even more oppressive legislation against us. It might be nice if they don't agree on a course of action until May 2015, a bit of peace for us.

St Patrick's Day

Now I don't believe myself to be churlish, but I don't actually care that today is St Patrick's Day. If I had more Irish blood than great grandparents on my mother's side in me perhaps I would. If people who want to celebrate St George's Day weren't treated like xenophobic, racist, homophobic, paraskevidekatriaphobic monsters, and every other phobia you can imagine, I might be slightly sympathetic to St Patrick's Day. But I don't care.
What really pigs me off is Americans claiming to be Irish, especially American politicians claiming to be 'Oirish' to get the Irish vote, on the grounds that their great, great, great grandfather once had a pint of Guinness or once cut a piece of peat out of a bog. It's just wrong. If you want a piss up then have one, you don't have to sing maudling songs about perceived injustices three hundred years ago, wear a stupid green Leprechaun hat and drink vast quantities of Guinness until every bodily fluid oozing from you is jet black. Get over it.
Although a pretty patriotic person I don't naturally go for over-the-top demonstrations of patriotism anyway, I don't think it's very English. But I must admit to liking the following very, very much:

Morrissey
It seems that Morrissey has collapsed on stage in Swindon. Let's hope it's not serious.
Get well soon Morrissey, missed you in Brixton this year because of illness, take it easy.

Morrissey-Brixton Academy
Will Morrissey have recovered from a dodgy throat by Saturday night? He had to cancel the Troxy on Tuesday and Brixton tonight. Will he be OK for Saturday, when we are there, or will he be "still ill"?
Shit! 21.45 the concert's off.

Manchester United FC
Well United lost to Barcelona tonight, and deservedly so sadly. So there's only one place to retreat to, music:
Just praying Morrissey recovers to play at the Brixton Academy on Saturday night. That being cancelled would be too much.

Friday Funday
Greetings for Easter and God bless. But still some Friday fun, starting with Les Dawson:
Then tell me this Dire Straits classic doesn't move you:
Then a lot of people 'don't get' Morrissey. I find that hard to understand. To me he epitomises Northern life, especially Manchester. He is not dreary, as unimaginative critics claim, he is ironic and very working class without being a boring class warrior, he wants decency not revolution. He is a critic of Mrs T but is a positive product of Mrs T. A Morrissey concert is not a concert, it's a happening, an event, a celebration. I once heard a critic say something like:
"Morrissey is supposed to be for angst ridden teenagers sat friendless in their boxrooms. But (in 2005) there are coachloads of plumbers and welders travelling from Bolton to crowd surf in the hope of touching the great man. A Morrissey concert is something euphoric, something special that draws you in".
That's why, for the umpteenth time, I will be trekking down to London at the end of May to see the great man at the Brixton Academy, a venue that was made for Morrissey. In the meantime enjoy First of the Gang to Die:
