Lucky old India has the sacred cow.
Poor old Britain has two scared cows: The NHS and Islam. Dare talk rationally about either of them and you will be treated like a heretic or a phobic.

Lefties and Islam
Witnessing the politically correct leftie brigade bending over backwards to make excuses for the barbaric actions of thousands of muslim migrants across Europe has been a very bizarre experience.
One of the most ridiculous the excuses I've heard is that all men are capable of rape and using events at New Year to tarnish the reputation of muslims is pure racism. Nope, wrong in three ways. It is the behaviour of thousands of muslims that tarnishes the reputation of muslims, indeed if muslims have ever had a good reputation. Secondly Islam is a religion not a race, therefore criticism of it cannot be regarded as racism. Thirdly I, and millions and millions of other men, are not capable of rape.
There were also claims that one man arrested in Cologne was a citizen of the USA therefore you can't blame it on Islam. No course you can't, one man out of thousands across Europe just makes it another fine example of multiculturalism in action doesn't it?
The mayor of Cologne has decided to go head to head with Frau Merkel in the cow-frau of the year race. Rather than sort out the muslim rapists and gropers she is planning guidance for German women in how to dress and behave in ways that do not provoke the sexual deviants who have recently arrived in the Fatherland. Maybe the burka would do the trick? Maybe that's why so many muslim women are happy to cover themselves from head to foot, they know their men have no self-control.
Now the police chief of Vienna, where gangs of muslims also attacked women at New Year, has added his two schillings to the debate by warning women not to go out alone. Tell you what mate, get your police force prepared to actually protect your women from these vile bastards. If you can't do that then don't suddenly find the resources to take action when your population decides to deal with the problem themselves.
Look at muslim countries all over the world and tell me they are the kind of places you would like to live. Generally speaking women have far fewer rights than men. In Saudi Arabia women aren't allowed to drive. Throughout the muslim world execution, often in public, is commonplace, as are public floggings. In many muslim countries women guilty of adultery are stoned to death and thieves have their hands chopped off.
Everywhere muslims pitch up they demand minority rights. Wherever muslims are a majority the rights of minorities are trampled on. How then can lefties defend this and accuse those opposed to the increasing numbers of muslims in Europe racist? It is because their loathing and hatred of the country and people that have given them such freedoms and rights is what drives their destructive political beliefs. Like Islam the creed of political correctness hates the west and all we stand for. Why else would lefties excuse the excesses of Islam when they are supposed to support equality for all?
Finally, if you have to warn women how to dress and behave to avoid being groped or raped by immigrants maybe they are the type of immigrants you really shouldn't have in your country.

Another One Bites The Dust
I'm not a supporter of capital punishment, but there are times when certain events make me, like anybody else, wonder if it's the only option.
Earlier today Frasier Glenn Miller, a 74 year old white supremacist, was sentenced to death by a court in Kansas for the murder of three people, for no other reason than that they were Jewish. As the sentence was announced he shouted 'Heil Hitler'.
To a certain element anti-Semitism, which is frighteningly on the rise in Europe reflecting the rise of militant Islam, seems to be the last socially acceptable form of racism. It's good to see that in the USA at least one judge in one court is taking a serious stand against this sickness.

Now It's Personal Merkel!
I've said it before and I will now repeat it. Europe is being invaded by muslims. They are not refugees they are migrants. Refugees flee terror and danger and take refuge in a safe place. Once they decide to leave that sanctuary they become migrants. That's just so you know when I refer to 'migrants' who I am referring to.
Now then, I love Germany and I like the German people. But Angela Merkel I loathe. She is a political chameleon driven by a lust for power. She was a uniformed apparatchik in the old, hated German Democrat Republic and is now bullying the smaller countries in the equally hated European Union. The woman is a monster and even her coalition allies in Germany are starting to see her for what she is.
Germany, understandably I believe, still has a huge guilt complex about the last century and their grovelling to migrants is an outward sign of this complex. What precipitated the current migrant crisis was the German government deciding to relax asylum rules for Syrians. Then they announced they would accept 500,000 per year. Then they panicked and started backtracking, but it was too late, the invasion had begun. What Germany has done is to screw over Europe as they did, although in a different way, in the last century. They have financially bullied countries in the Eurozone and have now enabled the swamping of Europe by countless migrants that the populations of Europe don't want.
Thanks to the high handedness of Germany the EU's statistical office claim that only one in five of the current migrants flooding Europe are Syrians. That accounts for the thousands of dumped passports and other identity documents from non-Syrians found in Serbia, Greece and elsewhere. The papers are from Nigerians, Kenyans, Iraqis and people from a host of other nations. They are clearly not refugees despite what the politically correct might claim.
So why is it personal now with Frau Merkel? Because in a couple of weeks time we are due to arrive in Vienna then Munich by train. Vienna has seen migrants rioting, fighting each other and the local police as has Munich. The authorities are claiming that the numbers of migrants in the coming weeks will increase. Is it really likely that the civil disorder will decrease?
This week two reliable sources, totally unconnected to each other, have warned us not to travel to Munich, especially by train. It is too dangerous. We are currently trying to check the situation in Vienna.
One of my sources has also seen reports from the authorities in Germany stating that attacks on migrants and mosques are not being carried out solely by right wing extremists but migrants of different ethnicities or different sects of Islam. There have been videos on the internet of Turks and Kurds fighting each other on the streets of Hamburg.
What Europe is doing is importing the conflicts of the muslim world, especially the middle east. Brace yourself for a rocky few years. It's no wonder that Arab/muslim countries aren't welcoming these migrants with open arms.

Weirdos, Freaks and Nutjobs
You can tell there's a general election coming soon, the bullshit is getting worse and worse.
The Labour Party is claiming the Tories are going to privatise the NHS. I'm 55 now and remember the Labour Party coming out with the same lie since 1974, at least. It's a lie, if they did promise to privatise the NHS I would be definitely voting for them. It won't happen.
The Labour Party are also claiming they will control immigration. Bullshit. As long as we are in the EU they cannot control immigration. From 1997 to 2010 they let as many migrants into the country annually as the Tory/Lib Dim coalition has since 2010. It won't happen.
My MP is David Morris, who calls himself a 'Conservative' but is definitely not, in my opinion, conservative. He's a fantastic politician, bullshit flows from him freely and frequently. I fear the consequences of a Labour government, especially if backed up by the Scottish Nazionalists, but while David Morris is my Tory candidate I will not be voting Tory.
On Friday I received a letter from Morris on House of Commons stationery. He was telling me how he voted against same sex marriage and was responding to my enquiry about his voting intention on that issue. The vote on same sex marriage was, as I remember, in June 2013. My enquiry was prior to that. So why respond now, nearly two years later? There's a general election coming up and you can't use House of Commons stationery for party political literature. I wouldn't dream of accusing him of breaking or even bending the rules. But it makes you wonder.
Now then, Jeremy Clarkson. I've worked as a TV extra and know that the days can be very long, tedious and often freezing cold and wet if filming outdoors, it's as bad for the actors as it is for the lowly extras. Jeremy Clarkson had spent a very long day, sixteen hours I think, outdoors, in shocking weather, filming a piece for Top Gear. When he got back to hotel, very late, very cold and very wet, there was no hot food. He found the producer responsible for the cock up and bollocked him severely then allegedly smacked him. Quite right too, I would have done likewise. The incompetent producer should have been sacked, not Clarkson. As a consequence the BBC will now lose millions in revenue from Top Gear. That's public service for you, fuck the taxpayer!
Finally, never believe the apologists for Islam. The father of one of the three young slappers who went off to have sex with ISIS has claimed the government, the police, MI5, old uncle Tom Cobbly and all were responsible for her vile belief in a murderous, barbaric religion. Of course him being a vile, barbaric, Islamist nutjob, as exposed in yesterday's newspapers, had nothing to do with it.Oh no, course it didn't.
May 7th is election day. One thing I do know is that nothing will change. We will wake up on 8th May still ruled by weirdos and freaks who oppress us but protect the 'human rights' of nutjobs, especially Islamic nutjobs.

Je Suis Charlie, But....
![]() |
| Today's Front Cover |
Not being a fluent French speaker I can only get the gist of the cartoons I've seen from the magazine and they strike me as being designed to shock and offend, not just the cartoons attacking Islam but those attacking other religions in the magazine too. If cartoons are pithy and make a searing point then that is satire. If they are designed to simply offend then that is not satire but abuse and provocation. Whatever an individual's take on the reasoning for cartoons, the written or spoken word, or film, free speech should be sacrosanct and nobody should be afraid of consequences, especially the evil consequences inflicted on Charlie Hebdo last week.
But let's step back in time a few years. Leading people behind Charlie Hebdo, including 'Charb' Charbonnier who was murdered last week, organised a petition that garnered over 170 000 signatures to have the French National Front banned. This seems at odds with the philosophy that free speech is an inalienable right. You might despise what a party like the National Front stand for, but freedom of speech doesn't include the rider 'as long as I approve'.
Having said that we all know too well how political correctness is undermining free speech. Yesterday in the supermarket I read the front page of The Sun, not my newspaper of choice. It carried the story of former Coronation Street actor Ken Morley being thrown off Celebrity Big Brother for passing on a corny old anecdote that included the word 'negro'. Now forgive me but I'm not sure when the word 'negro' was designated racist, a bit old fashioned maybe, but racist? I'm not comparing being thrown off a dodgy TV show with being murdered in your office but both actions were taken because of the modern day crime of 'causing offence'.
It's interesting that the two British newspapers to show solidarity with Charlie Hebdo yesterday by showing cartoons from the magazine were The Guardian and Independent, not newspapers renowned for supporting free speech but for slavishly following the line of 'free speech, as long as I agree and don't think it offends'. Freedom of speech should be unequivocal, tempered by respect rather than law. Unfortunately the liberal left in Europe demand free speech for themselves, no matter how offensive they want to be, but woebetide anybody who practices free speech that doesn't adhere to their liberal/left agenda.
The left are tediously regular in justifying the curtailment of free speech with the corny old phrase 'free speech doesn't mean you can shout fire in a packed theatre'. Well if you see smoke you should actually.
Maybe putting deliberately offensive and provocative cartoons in a magazine is the liberal left equivalent of shouting fire in a packed theatre. Just a thought.

2015, Election Year
Having suffered four years of wishy washy, wet government May 2015 gives us the chance to bin the coalition of cheats, thieves and liars. Or does it? Maybe the electorate gets what it deserves and next year's general election will punish us with a bunch of similar, maybe even worse misfits taking power than this lot.
Let's face it political correctness, that strange form of mental illness, continues to devour what's left of freedom and democracy and brands commonsense policies dangerous at best, evil at worst. Dare to call for controlled immigration and you are branded an evil racist.
A fine recent example of hysterical PC branding was when US commentator Rush Limbaugh asserted that James Bond should not be played by a black actor on the grounds that Ian Fleming created Bond as the son of a Scottish father and French Swiss mother. Of course the shit hit the fan and he, and others, were pilloried for such evil racism. I suppose, therefore, that we will soon see Russell Brand playing the lead role in a bio pic of Nelson Mandela's life.
Don't agree with gay marriage? Many of us have been branded evil homophobes for daring to question the idea of gay marriage. I don't have a problem with gay couples having all the legal rights that heterosexual couples have. I don't have a problem with civil partnerships. I just believe that marriage is, and should remain, the joining together of a man and a woman. Call me old fashioned but do not brand me homophobic, because I'm not.
Dare to comment on the stonings, beheadings, crucifications and more carried out by muslims and you are branded an Islamphobe. The apologists for Islam claim that it is a peaceful religion full of joy and goodness. Well maybe ISIS are rogues but look at any muslim state and tell me you, especially if you are a woman, would like to go and live there. Public executions, often shown on TV? Women arrested for driving? Women stoned to death for adultery or even for being raped? Homosexuals thrown in jail or facing death? Under sharia law only the males in a family can inherit? These things don't strike me as being compatible with liberal western values. But dare criticise and all those politically correct liberals who want their version of 'equality' imposed on us suddenly defend the polar opposite of what they preach to us and brand you an Islamophobe.
The politically correct loathe British people who live in France, Spain and other countries but maintain a British way of life, eating British food, shopping in British shops, playing cricket and bowls and so on. Little Englanders who should integrate cry the politically correct.
Visit a typical British city and you often find yourself in huge areas that resemble Delhi, Istanbul, Cyprus or Lahore. Wonderful examples of diversity and multiculturalism cry the politically correct.
The central element of political correctness is self-loathing. A loathing of British culture. A loathing of British history. A loathing of the British way of life. A loathing of British people. A loathing of our political system. Foreigners are so much friendlier. Foreign cultures are so much more vibrant. It is a form of mental illness involving self harm. An individual suffering this form of illness would be offered treatment.
Against this backdrop it is no wonder that next year's general election is unlikely to offer us a serious option for change. They are all scared that the media and the metropolitan elite will brand them evil extremists if they dare say anything that could be branded politically incorrect.
At one time politicians had beliefs. Does anybody know what any of our senior politicians actually believe today? At one time our politicians used to listen to the electorate. Now, because they have been so neutered by political correctness, they daren't listen to the public.
So who is really to blame for this mess? Senior politicians? Yes. One thing that would make 2015 a wonderful year would be to see the Chilcot Report published and Tony Blair hauled off to The Hague on war crimes charges. That's just for starters.
The politically correct? Of course they are to blame. In another era they would have been labelled Quislings, and quite rightly so.
But when apportioning blame the 'anti-politicians' must carry a huge burden of guilt. I mean those people who sit on their bums slagging off anybody involved in politics, be they a volunteer leafleter or an MP, just for the fact that they are involved in politics. The advent of the internet has made this problem even worse with the appearance of the keyboard warrior, who has all the answers, usually idiotically simplistic answers, but still sits on his fat arse doing nothing constructive but slagging off those who actually stick their heads above the parapet and try to change things. The 'anti-politicians' do more than anybody else to drive people away from politics thus leaving political parties in the hands of an ever dwindling band of misfits.
For the first time in decades I won't be involved in the next election in any way, a combination of disenchantment and finding that trying to engage the average voter is like trying to raise the dead. An utter, demoralising waste of time. I doubt I'll even be voting in May 2015, for the first time since the local elections in 1980, although I spoilt my European ballot paper in 1979.
So, if you vote just for the sake of voting, even though you don't agree with any of them, don't complain when you get a government you don't like or that you accuse of not listening. You voted for them.
Before you slag me off I spent around 35 years trying to make a difference, but when banging your head against a wall gets really painful you stop. Think you could do more and better? Then get off your lazy arse, leave your keyboard alone and get involved.
To those who are still motivated enough to plod the streets knocking on doors on behalf of a candidate, stuffing envelopes in a draughty campaign office or sticking their heads above the parapet to actually stand for parliament I wish you luck, and the New Year you deserve.

Will You Walk With Me?
Will you walk with me
If I have to flee
When my freedoms are lost
And I bear the cost
Of Sharia Law
And my back is raw
Because I showed my face
And they don’t like my race
Will you walk with me?
Will you walk with the pawn
His spirit torn
Sitting on his knees
Hoping for a reprieve
Sad farewells he sends
As his neck is bent
To his family
As a homily
Will you walk with him
And the slaves they take
The displaced they make
Take their way of life
Or they’ll feel the knife
For they have no heart
If you don’t take part
In the slaughter
Of the infidels daughter
Will you walk with them?
And they’ll blow up planes
And they’ll blow your brains
Shoot you in the street
A job complete
Crucify and maim
Shouting you’re to blame
So if it’s all the same
As they feel no shame
Will you walk with me?
If I have to flee
When my freedoms are lost
And I bear the cost
Of Sharia Law
And my back is raw
Because I showed my face
And they don’t like my race
Will you walk with me?
Will you walk with the pawn
His spirit torn
Sitting on his knees
Hoping for a reprieve
Sad farewells he sends
As his neck is bent
To his family
As a homily
Will you walk with him
And the slaves they take
The displaced they make
Take their way of life
Or they’ll feel the knife
For they have no heart
If you don’t take part
In the slaughter
Of the infidels daughter
Will you walk with them?
And they’ll blow up planes
And they’ll blow your brains
Shoot you in the street
A job complete
Crucify and maim
Shouting you’re to blame
So if it’s all the same
As they feel no shame
Will you walk with me?

The World's Gone Mad
It seems we are undergoing biblical scale epidemics of pestilence, famine, disease and sheer fuckwittery. I don't think it's me getting old and coming over all apocalyptic, as older people are wont to do, but things are looking decidedly iffy.
Ebola. Now then, my reaction would be to ban people from west Africa travelling to the UK, including recent visitors to west Africa from elsewhere. Don't tell me with all the Orwellian state surveillance we have in 2014 this is not feasible. We can surely check on UK databases, Europol and Interpol databases and any other number of national and international databases. But I suspect politicians are scared of being accused of racism or of threatening a multi-million pound trade deal with some African despot. Meanwhile the ever suffering populace are warned to brace ourselves, ebola is coming to a town near you!
Meanwhile in Iraq and Syria, maybe Turkey too soon, we have barbarians from IS/ISIS/ISIL (their name changes more often than UKIP's policies) rampaging around slaughtering innocents and beheading taxi drivers from Salford. Quite why any sane human would leave the UK to go and help in Syria, Iraq or anywhere else in that part of the world, unless armed to the teeth and backed by the SAS, is beyond me, but the poor deluded westerners who have been hacked to death over there certainly did not deserve it, nor do the Kurds and others being slaughtered in much bigger numbers.
On the other hand we have Islamic nutjobs who were born and raised in the UK, I refuse to call them 'British', popping over to Syria to behead infidels. The latest estimate is that over 2000 of these young people have left to slaughter innocents. Again we must know who these people are as we must know who their sympathisers and helpers in the UK are. We should gather those in the UK together with any returning jihadist nutjobs, give them a quick training course then send them out to west Africa to work as closely as possible with ebola victims. They could regard it as martyrdom and look forward to their 72 virgins when their work was done.
What current events really highlight is the total contempt in which we, the populace are held by the political class. The first duty of the state is to protect its citizens. Our government, and previous governments, have clearly not given a damn about the British people.
While all this is going on there is a pathetic debate which started in Scotland, about increasing the grip of politicos and bureaucrats on our lives by devolution. In my part of the world we already have town councillors, city councillors, county councillors, MPs and MEPs. How many more of these parasites would be inflicted on us with devolution? Maybe MNWPs (Member of the North West Parliament)? Either way you can bet it will involve more elected politicians and layers of civil servants.
Increasingly it seems clear that the end of the UK is nigh. We should just bite the bullet and campaign for English independence. To be perfectly honest too much time, effort, money and in many instances lives have been wasted trying to please the Welsh, Scots and Irish. Set them free, which would be a great relief for vast numbers of patriotic English people. But free them on our terms, no generous financial settlements that aren't deserved and strict border and immigration controls. We can't do that while members of the European Union? Well they can expel us, numerous birds with one stone and no need for a costly referendum.

The Burger King Jihad
![]() |
| Work of Satan |
A muslim complained that the swirly pattern on the lid of an ice cream cone resembled the Arabic word Allah. So he declared a jihad on Burger King. Burger King promptly withdrew the ice cream but the muslim nutjob has not withdrawn his jihad.
Another reason not to use Burger King. Welcome to 2014 in modern, 'multicultural' Britain.

Western Civilisation RIP
Largely thanks to political correctness I am convinced that we are moving into the final death throes of our civilisation. Maybe, when you look around at Britain in 2013, it will be a relief to some extent, maybe something better will rise from the ashes.
At home political correctness has created such an atmosphere of self-loathing that any expression of patriotism is seen by many as extreme right-wing at best, evil xenophobia/racism at worst. Likewise if you dare to be critical of foreign states and people unless it's the USA, in which case it's open season. A current fine example is daring to criticise Nelson Mandela rather than slobbering and cooing at the sound of his name, that will have you attacked as an obvious Nazi/White Supremacist.
Our government ousted Sadam in Iraq, admittedly a right bastard, but have left behind a murdering cauldron of hatred and death largely fuelled by hatred of the West. All over the Middle East our government seems intent on supporting terrorist gangs of Islamist nutters who want to take over one country after another and install hate filled, lunatic regimes that loathe us.
A squaddie is murdered in Woolwich by Islamist nutters but large swathes of the press tried to draw some moral equivalence between the killers and demonstrators who took to the streets to condemn the killers.
Now then, here's a question:
Somebody was refused entry to the UK this week for making a statement. Was it the person who uttered:
‘It [Islam] is a religion and a belief system that mandates warfare against unbelievers for the purpose for establishing a societal model that is absolutely incompatible with Western society. Because of media and general government unwillingness to face the sources of Islamic terrorism these things remain largely unknown.’
Or was it the person who stated:
‘Devotion to Jihad for the sake of Allah, and the desire to shed blood, to smash skulls and to sever limbs for the sake of Allah and in defense of His religion, is, undoubtedly, an honor for the believer.’
As if you need a clue, here is what British MP Keith Vaz said to justify the ban:
‘The UK should never become a stage for inflammatory speakers who promote hate.’
If you really need to check the answer then visit Douglas Murray's Blog in The Spectator.
Increasingly the political class appear to hate us, increasingly I see voting as a form of collaboration.

Woolwich-Proving The World Has Gone Mad!
I wasn't going to say much about the brutal murder of a squaddie yesterday in Woolwich by a couple of barbarians, and I still won't. But I will make a couple of observations on the reaction to events.
It seems that many people can only condemn the murderers if they also condemn the 150 or so demonstrators who turned up in Woolwich last night.
Leading on from that people seem to be drawing parallels between the EDL and islamic nutters. I know little about the EDL but am not aware that they have killed thousands of people throughout the world in assorted terrorist attacks.
For saying what I have just said above about the EDL I am likely to be attacked for being at best an EDL supporter, at worst a raging fascist/racist/xenophobe/islamophobe.
I've seen one idiot's response on the internet that effectively said that we shouldn't condemn muslims because last night he had a good muslim in a takeaway cook his nan bread just how he likes it, slightly burnt around the edges. Muslims should also be excused anything because said muslim even offered to cook him another if it was too burnt. That makes it alright then.
One nutjob on the internet has already claimed that Cameron organised last night's murder so he could react like a strong man and shore up his plummeting poll ratings.
I saw a screen shot (I think that's what it's called) of the EDF Energy Twitter account. They had to constantly deny that they were demonstrating in Woolwich last night and that it was in fact the EDL.
I also saw an internet forum where EDL supporters were demanding that the Brighton Pavilion be demolished and be rebuilt in Saudi Arabia. I suppose from a certain angle, just about at dusk, if you squint a little and use your imagination it does look a tiny bit like a mosque.
But don't despair. David Cameron's in charge and he's chaired a Cobra meeting this morning. We'll be OK.

Friday-Morrissey Time
What a change these last twenty years. If nothing else the hard men in the Middle East have been replaced by stone age nutters in the so-called 'Arab Spring'. The western nations, and soppy politicos who actually believed despots would be replaced by liberal democrats, colluded to endanger us all and we are now seeing the consequences with Islamist nutters kicking off all over the region.
But we still have Morrissey. This one from twenty years ago:

Osama bin Laden and the Middle East
Am I the only one who woke up this morning to the news of bin Laden's death to feel distinctly underwhelmed? If it is bin Laden, and bin Laden has been running the worldwide terror network we call Al-Qaeda, is it really such a big deal? Do we really think the Islamist terrorists are all going to throw away their weapons and go back to their home towns and villages? Or will there be any number of men just waiting to carry on the work started by bin Laden?
My view has always been that we, the West, have used bin Laden and blown his image out of all proportion because we like to personalise our wars. We don't like to say that we were at war with Germany any more, it was Hitler. The worst excesses of the Soviet Union were not carried out by Russians, they were carried out by Stalin. Cambodians didn't slaughter each other by the million, that was Pol Pot. Cubans haven't oppressed Cubans over the decades, that was Castro.
It is easier to keep the population on side if we create an evil being to target rather than accept that thousands if not millions of people actually follow the doctrine and carry out the attacks and mass murders quite happily. It's especially convenient when you don't want a whole swathe of people blamed, in this case Islamists or Muslims generally. Western governments are walking a tightrope, we are fighting Islamist extremists in Afghanistan and elsewhere, but don't want to turn Western people against Muslim people in the West.
My feeling is that the death of bin Laden is largely irrelevant, he will have laid plans for this scenario years ago, things will continue as if nothing has happened. There may well be a spate of attacks to show their anger at his death, if they even publicly accpet his death, which I wouldn't do if I were an Al-Qaeda leader. There must be any number of lookalikes they can trundle out to show what a bunch of liars we in the West have in charge.
I am much more fearful of what could happen in the Middle East. When people in the West were coming over all giddy about events in Tunisia, Egypt and elsewhere I couldn't help a deep sense of foreboding. Helping get rid of dictators is one thing, but what fills the vacuum? Already attacks on Christians have increased in the region and the Muslim Brotherhood is reported to be organising themselves very effectively to make huge strides in public and political life in the new Egypt. The West seemed to be in some kind of mass delusional state. Baddies in the Middle East gone one day, liberal western style democracy installed the next. It doeswn't work like that, never has and never will.
Whether we accept it or not, chaos in the Middle East is what militant Islamists will thrive on and garner support from. If we in Europe end up with militant Islamist states across the Middle East, then we should be very afraid, whether bin Laden is dead or alive.

Islamic Extremism in the Middle East
As events unfolded in Tunisia, then Egypt I couldn't get as excited as many people in this country and elsewhere. Only those who have little life experience, or little awareness of history, could become excited as though there would be revolution on Monday, elections on Tuesday and good old fashioned democracy established on Wednesday. I was astounded at the naivety of the media and so many other people in this country.
It is arrogant of people in the west to assume that people elsewhere in the world are all desperate for our style of democracy. They are obviously not. What the demonstrators want in the Middle East is a whole range of things, as diverse a range of hopes and needs as millions of people in any part of the world.
But if we choose to ignore the danger of militant Islam taking an even tighter grip in the Middle East then we are stupid beyond belief. What did these people think the demonstrators holding images of Mubarak with the Star of David imposed on his face were trying to say?
Here is the report of the murder of a Catholic priest in Tunisia amid a rise in Islamist violence since the revolution there.
Here is an article from the Daily Telegraph by Anne Applebaum about the attack in Cairo on Laura Logan and the biased reporting of recent events in Cairo.
I'm amazed at the naivety and downright stupidity of people in this country who were so excited at events in the Middle East. I fear what may happen there, and its impact on the rest of the world in the next few years.
We can only hope.

Egypt, The Middle East and Mealy Mouthed Liberals
![]() |
| The World's Greatest Democracies! |
Last night the most guilty ideoligical nutter was Mehdi Hasan of, no surprises here, the New Statesman. This character has such deep seated loathing for this country, and the West in general, I wonder why he doesn't just pick another country and get the hell out of here. If I loathed this country as much as he does I'd certainly be elswhere now.
Then there was the old dinosaur of social demoracy Menzies Campbell. For a total failure and utter nonentity to be regarded as the grand old man of the Liberal Democrats really says all you need to know about the junior coalition partners currently governing this country. No wonder he pronounces his name Ming. No, not the Chinese dynasty, although he is very old. I would add an "er" on the end actually.
Let's get Minger out of the way first. Talking about Islamic extremists he obviously had to make excuses for it by likening it to homegrown terrorists. So he set off on one of his rambling, patronsing spiels about what we experienced as a result of homegrown terrorists. Here we go, I thought, trundle out the IRA for a bit of moral equivalence with the Muslim nutters. But no, he stumped us all by declaring these terrorists to be waving Union Flags. Jackpot, Minger was talking about Loyalists in Ulster, not the IRA at all. Proof that the old fool really is going senile.
Now for Hasan the patronising, hateful, Western hating journalist from the New Statesman. Yes, I feel very strongly about idiots like this. He attacked this country for being patronising, pot and kettle that one, and being arrogant in thinking that Egypt and the Middle East are incapable of democracy. Apparently, according to Hasan this is obviously not the case. Oh really!
Perhaps we in the West should take a leaf out of the glowing haven of freedom, enlightenment and democracy that is the Middle East. You know, countries like Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and all the rest.
Or perhaps he was referring to Israel, the only parliamentary democracy, as we would recognise it, in the Middle East. But I doubt it, accepting a reality that goes against the left's ideological daydream isn't in their scheme of things. No, they don't like democracies that actually do what their people want them to do.
So what I saw on QT last night hit the two things that really annoy me at the moment. The inability of the political class in this country to condemn Islamic terrorism without drawing some moral equivalence with terror, perceived or otherwise, from non-Islamic groups. Even the English Defence League were attacked as violent, right-wing extremists in an effort to put them on a par with Islamic nutters. Whatever you may think of the EDL I'm not aware of them blowing up buses, trains, foreign embassies or flying planes into skyscrapers. Even Cameron was at that game in Munich when he made his feeble attack on multiculturalism, made feeble by his drawing of moral equivalence whenever he mentioned Islamic terrorists.
The second thing that is annoying me is the curent nonsensical drooling about events in Egypt. What it has shown is how damn tedious 24 hour news channels are. Do we realy need permanent pictures of Tahrir Square and the same old report being told repeatedly by some shirt sleeved reporter in a hotel overlooking the square. It's worse than being in a shop with music on a loop so you end up brainwashed with the same old sound over, and over, and over again. This, and Twitter, has produced instant experts. Deluded individuals who think Mubarak will step down on Monday, elections will be held on Tuesday and democracy will be entrenched on Wednesday. There you are, simple really, Egypt marching into the arms of democracy a la Saudi Arabia, Syria and all those other beacons of liberty in the Midde East. We in the West should really look on and learn, shouldn't we?

Egypt, Idealists, Conspiracy Theorists and Nutters
I had an altercation on Twitter today with an old political acquaintance. He is drooling over events in Egypt. Of course it didn't take him long to attack the USA, this time for evacuating embassy staff when, in his opinion, there was no violence in Egypt. When I pointed out that even the Turks were evacuating, that museums and shops had been looted, that buildings, police vehicles and offices had been on fire in the last week he claimed that was all done by the secret police. I always thought he was mad, that just proved it to me.
I'm no fan of Mubarak, with my limited knowledge of Egypt, and would probably be on the steets myself if I lived in Cairo. But I don't. I live in England, am a Christian and believe in freedom and democracy, and by that I mean western style freedom and democracy. From my position I fear what will happen when Mubarak goes. Look at what is happening in Tunisia. I suppose the mad idealists who think Egypt will be all cuddly, democratic and libertarian post-Mubarak will claim that this report from Reuters, of Islamic violence against Jewish people in the newly 'liberated' Tunisia, is also some kind of conspiracy.
Christians in Egypt currently face intimidation, violence and murder as reported here. How will Christians be treated when a new government comes into power with the support, to what degree is as yet unclear, of the Muslim Brotherhood? To pretend there is no danger of an extremist Islamic republic being installed in Cairo is to prove ignorance of the real world and stupidity beyond belief. To believe that a fundamentalist Islamic state in Egypt would be no threat to the west is also to live in a fantasy world.
I remember watching the Iranian revolution unfold in 1979. Then the Ayatollah Khomeini was waiting in the wings, or Paris to be precise. Egypt in 2011 has the Muslim Brotherhood hovering in the background. It's much more than a sense of deja vu that makes me concerned about events in Egypt. I also worry about the gullible idealists, conspiracy theorists and nutters in this country who think they will wake up tomorrow to find Egypt leading the world in freedom and democracy.

North Africa, Islam and the West
![]() |
| Islamic protesters in the UK |
Perhaps people have short memories but it was only 1979 that there was an uprising against the Shah in Iran, and look what happened there. Fine, that revolution was largely influenced from the start by the Ayatollah in exile, whereas Tunisia and Egypt appear to be more spontaneous uprisings by the population against unpopular and authoritarian regimes. But Islam, and the Muslim Brotherhood are in the background biding their time.
Egypt in recent years has moved much nearer to embracing fundamentalist Islam, and it will only take a nudge in that direction for another dangerous Islamic state to come into being. Within five years one side of the Mediterranean could consist of Islamic states much more hostile to the liberal democracies on the other side of the Med than we have seen for centuries. How long before fundamentalist Islam takes power in Turkey? We should be very worried.
Islam is as much a threat to peace, freedom and democracy as Communism was after the Second World War and Fascism was before the Second World War. The difference is that for decades we in the West have had our belief and ideals eroded by political correctness. We have been told by the political and social elite that every belief, ideology or philosophy that we hold dear is either wicked or outdated.
There is no longer any self-belief in Western Europe. We have opened our doors to masses of people who loathe our way of life and we have been forced, by law, to accept and tolerate these views in the interests of 'diversity'. The elite have told us that 'diversity' is good and that we must accept, indeed embrace, new cultures in twentieth and twenty-first century Britain because that is wholesome, enlightening and good for us. At the same time the liberal elite deride our own history, culture and beliefs. Dare stand up for them and you are labelled a crank, a nutter or worse.
We can no longer question Islam or, God forbid, oppose it without being accused of Islamophobia. Implication being that we have no powers of reason, just irrational fear. There are any number of other topics declared off limits by the elite because people are scared of being tarnished as being guilty of an 'ism' or a 'phobia'. Question immigration levels and you are immediately branded a racist. It's the tyranny of the liberal left, control thought by controlling speech.
If, as I am convinced, Islam will continue to expand elsewhere, how long before there are serious problems in this country and other countries in Europe? My fear is that when that time comes we will have neither the belief nor the means to defend ourselves or our culture. Political correctness has seen to that.
