General Election 2015-Morecambe and Lunesdale

Well the full list of runners and riders is now in for the Morecambe and Lunesdale Constituency for May 7th. I have to say, for a marginal constituency that could have a serious bearing on who forms the next government it isn't exactly inspiring.

There is David Morris for the Conservative Party, likely to be signing on come May 8th after wasting the last five years on the Tory benches in the House of Commons. You may remember him as the MP who in one year claimed nearly £76,000 in expenses. That's around £1,460 per week!

The Labour Party have a councillor from Hulme in Manchester called Amina Lone. She's spent 20 years fighting poverty apparently, so nearly 15 of those years were fighting poverty caused by her Labour Party government.

The Greens and the Lib Dems have candidates too, but we've had no leaflets from either since the last election and I can't remember their names. To be honest if they can't be arsed popping a leaflet out until the election address is delivered by Royal Mail I can't be arsed looking their names up.

There is a UKIP candidate, Steve Ogden who has a bike shop in Morecambe.

There is also a candidate who has no party name and doesn't even have 'Independent' in the box for party name on the Notice of Election. A quick internet search suggests Michael Dawson, if it's the same one, could be the founder of the Northern Party. To be honest, if he can't be arsed popping 'Independent' in the box, or omitted his party name by mistake, I can't be arsed voting for him.

So there we have it. Please wake me up on May 8th.

Weirdos, Freaks and Nutjobs

You can tell there's a general election coming soon, the bullshit is getting worse and worse.

The Labour Party is claiming the Tories are going to privatise the NHS. I'm 55 now and remember the Labour Party coming out with the same lie since 1974, at least. It's a lie, if they did promise to privatise the NHS I would be definitely voting for them. It won't happen.

The Labour Party are also claiming they will  control immigration. Bullshit. As long as we are in the EU they cannot control immigration. From 1997 to 2010 they let as many migrants into the country annually as the Tory/Lib Dim coalition has since 2010. It won't happen.

My MP is David Morris, who calls himself a 'Conservative' but is definitely not, in my opinion, conservative. He's  a fantastic politician, bullshit flows from him freely and frequently. I fear the consequences of a Labour government, especially if backed up by the Scottish Nazionalists, but while David Morris is my Tory candidate I will not be voting Tory.

On Friday I received a letter from Morris on House of Commons stationery. He was telling me how he voted against same sex marriage and was responding to my enquiry about his voting intention on that issue. The vote on same sex marriage was, as I remember, in June 2013. My enquiry was prior to that. So why respond now, nearly two years later? There's a general election coming up and you can't use House of Commons stationery for party political literature. I wouldn't dream of accusing him of breaking or even bending the rules. But it makes you wonder.

Now then, Jeremy Clarkson. I've worked as a TV extra and know that the days can be very long, tedious and often freezing cold and wet if filming outdoors, it's as bad for the actors as it is for the lowly extras. Jeremy Clarkson had spent a very long day, sixteen hours I think, outdoors, in shocking weather, filming a piece for Top Gear. When he got back to hotel, very late, very cold and very wet, there was no hot food. He found the producer responsible for the cock up and bollocked him severely then allegedly smacked him. Quite right too, I would have done likewise. The incompetent producer should have been sacked, not Clarkson. As a consequence the BBC will now lose millions in revenue from Top Gear. That's public service for you, fuck the taxpayer!

Finally, never believe the apologists for Islam. The father of one of the three young slappers who went off to have sex with ISIS has claimed the government, the police, MI5, old uncle Tom Cobbly and all were responsible for her vile belief in a murderous, barbaric religion. Of course him being a vile, barbaric, Islamist nutjob, as exposed in yesterday's newspapers, had nothing to do with it.Oh no, course it didn't.

May 7th is election day. One thing I do know is that nothing will change. We will wake up on 8th May still ruled by weirdos and freaks who oppress us but protect the 'human rights' of nutjobs, especially Islamic nutjobs.

David Morris MP, Morecambe and Lunesdale Constituency

Yesterday we had yet another tedious questionnaire from our MP David Morris. We receive so many from his 'team' I tend to think of him and his 'team' more as a polling firm, a poor man's MORI, than as a Member of Parliament.

Consultation is one thing, but when I have asked his position on a couple of serious issues his response has been that he will wait and see what his constituents think. Now forgive me but I thought MPs were elected on what they, and increasingly their parties believed. It seems that Morris has no opinions, beliefs or principles other than to get re-elected. I can't help thinking that if he polled his constituents about the slaughter of the first born in every household and they wanted it he would probably campaign for it.

As he seems to have no beliefs I won't be voting Conservative in May next year.

David Morris MP and Syria

I've been a little busy lately, so am catching up with some of the local news. Back in June 2010 I made the mistake of voting Tory, really just to get Gordon Brown and the Labour Party idiots out. Sadly we ended up with this mongrel government of social democrats masquerading as Conservatives and Liberals. Neither party is what their names suggest.

But the local news was truly disturbing. Our local MP, for Morecambe and Lunesdale, is Tory chinless wonder David Morris. Now then, after Morris grovelled to Cameron by refusing to vote for an EU referendum when it was debated in Parliament I had already decided not to vote for him when the next election comes around. But now he's gone even further in showing his complete lack of fitness for political office.

The man has managed to rack up more expenses in one year than he received in salary. This link will take you to his expenses totals for the last three years on his website. But for 2012/13 he managed to claim nearly £76,000, almost £23,000 of which went on travel. He claims to always buy the cheapest return ticket when he travels from London to his constituency. Assuming he comes back three weekends each month, and let's say that he does that every month then each journey costs nearly £640. Is he flying home in the sodding space shuttle?

Nobody is claiming that he has done anything against the rules, he points out that the relevant authorities have checked and approved all his claims. Well smoking is perfectly legal but many of us choose not to smoke. Likewise many of us have been in jobs where we could have claimed huge expenses but felt morally obliged to keep them down. Somehow he manages to cost, in expenses alone, around £210 every single day of the year including Christmas Day and Bank Holidays. I bet I could sort him accomodation in London, home and office, and travel to his constituency on a weekly basis for a fraction of that. Yet another reason not to vote for him next time around.

Then there is Syria. Looks like Cameron and Obama are just Bush and Blair Mk II doesn't it? How would we react if it kicked off in Northern Ireland again and Iran and Iraq decided to bomb the crap out of London and/or Belfast in support of the rebels (IRA)? Not quite like for like that comparison I know but it makes the point.

If there is a vote on attacking Syria in the House of Commons I'll be checking how Mr Morris votes.

So with there being no credible parties in next year's European elections, and none looking likely to appear before 2015, it looks like abstention and spoilt ballot papers next year and the one after.

David Morris MP and Gay Marriage

I received a letter this weekend from my MP, David Morris, informing me that he had consulted widely and would be voting against gay marriage in the House of Commons today. I had contacted him some time ago to ask his position, so credit where it's due, he has consulted and listened. Shame he didn't on the question of an EU referendum, but eh, that's life.

There is still a problem though. On what issues should an MP have a core belief that will not be shaken? If MPs merely consult, then go along with public opinion then why not get rid of them and just have referenda? If I ask a candidate what his views are on a range of issues I want to know what his views are, not what public opinion is. Otherwise, how do we decide who to vote for? There are times when an MP must surely vote with conviction, even if it means going against public opinion, he must then justify himself to the electorate and either keep or lose his seat.

So I'm glad my MP will be voting against gay marriage today. But he still won't get my vote come the next election.

Nadine Dorries and the PPC Elections

The Police and Crime Commissioners are just another gravy train,  so I've spoilt my postal ballot paper already for tomorrow's election. I did intend abstaining completely but felt the urge to leave a message on the ballot paper, it may not do much good, but it made me feel better.

A friend of mine has a good idea. At the bottom of each ballot paper there should be a 'Non of the Above' box and if 51% vote NOTA then the election is declared void and nobody is elected. I would also count abstentions because, let's face it, if the candidates can't muster 51% between them then none of them deserve to be elected. I'd rather have no MP at the moment than the insipid little clown who currently 'represents' Morecambe and Lunesdale.

Then we have Nadine Dorries waltzing off to the jungle. She claims that it will give her access to 16m viewers who will then see politicians in a different light. What her entering actually shows is how out of touch our politicians really are. Did she not realise that people like her are only invited on to have the piss taken out of them? Did you not see George Galloway Nadine? And is she not the one who accused Sally Bercow of bringing her husband's position as Speaker of the House when she went on Celebrity Big Brother?

But I have mixed feelings about Nadine buggering off during term time like that. Part of me wishes every Member of Parliament had buggered off with her, preferably until the next election. At least then they couldn't keep mithering and badgering us with new laws and taxes.

David Morris MP, Morecambe and Lunesdale

As snivelling little yes men go David Morris, my local MP takes some beating. Is he voting yes or no in today's Commons vote on whether we should get a referendum on EU membership? Well, he's behaving like a man with no conviction or principle by tabling the following amendment:

"This House calls upon the Government to publish a White Paper during the next session of parliament setting out the powers and competences that the Government would seek to repatriate from the EU, to commence a renegotiation of Britain’s relationship with the EU and to put the outcome of those negotiations to a national referendum."

In true Tory style he makes the right noises, but action will come at some point in the future. He's doing Cameron's dirty work by sending a smokescreen across the whole issue today thinking we are all stupid enough to fall for it. Well I'm sorry David, but we're not all as stupid as you.

It gets worse, he really goes into some kind of dreamland on his website when he says:

“I think we should also bear in mind that this is without question the most Eurosceptic Government we've had since the early days of Margaret Thatcher’s term, before the Single European Act 1986 and the shadowing of the Deutschmark. The Prime Minister has pledged to refuse any new powers for Brussels without a referendum and is now working in earnest to repatriate powers to the UK. This is proof that us Eurosceptics are winning the argument, and that if we hold firm we will ensure Britain becomes a sovereign country again.”

I say 'dreamland' because it would be rude to accuse him of making things up wouldn't it?

I wonder what Morris will be doing after the next election? Maybe he'll go back to being a hairdresser.
