The Brexit vote has made 2016 one of my happiest years ever, my pleasure only heightened at the sight of the Remainiacs and snowflakes yarling and stamping their feet and generally behaving like the spoilt brat losers they are and always will be.
2017 should see the process of extricating ourselves from the authoritarian, economic basket case that is the European Union formally begin, but we need to remain vigilant. The EU has history when it comes to overturning democratic decisions they dislike and, as each day passes, I lose a little more faith in Theresa May's sincerity and ability. We shall see.
So I wish you all a peaceful, happy and prosperous New Year. One of my New Year's resolutions is to blog much more regularly in 2017, for good or ill, so that's it for 2016.

David Cameron-Pure Genius
![]() |
| The Listening Prime Minister |
He set out out three years ago his dream of European Union reform and has spent the last three years dashing around the EU negotiating into the small hours culminating in a mammoth summit meeting in Munich (oops sorry about that I mean Brussels) last week. He has worked tirelessly and ceaselessly, quite possibly shedding blood, sweat and tears. His energy is to be admired.
So this weekend he came home from Munich (oops sorry about that I mean Brussels) and held a Saturday cabinet meeting. After that he announced that a referendum on our continued membership of the EU will be held on June 23rd.
The culmination of these three years of hard graft and negotiation will be what puts our current Prime Minister high in the history books for centuries to come as the genius who achieved what nobody else could, and what most of us thought was impossible. He has made Neville Chamberlain look like a political colossus.
Well done Prime Minister. What an achievement.

Now It's Personal Merkel!
I've said it before and I will now repeat it. Europe is being invaded by muslims. They are not refugees they are migrants. Refugees flee terror and danger and take refuge in a safe place. Once they decide to leave that sanctuary they become migrants. That's just so you know when I refer to 'migrants' who I am referring to.
Now then, I love Germany and I like the German people. But Angela Merkel I loathe. She is a political chameleon driven by a lust for power. She was a uniformed apparatchik in the old, hated German Democrat Republic and is now bullying the smaller countries in the equally hated European Union. The woman is a monster and even her coalition allies in Germany are starting to see her for what she is.
Germany, understandably I believe, still has a huge guilt complex about the last century and their grovelling to migrants is an outward sign of this complex. What precipitated the current migrant crisis was the German government deciding to relax asylum rules for Syrians. Then they announced they would accept 500,000 per year. Then they panicked and started backtracking, but it was too late, the invasion had begun. What Germany has done is to screw over Europe as they did, although in a different way, in the last century. They have financially bullied countries in the Eurozone and have now enabled the swamping of Europe by countless migrants that the populations of Europe don't want.
Thanks to the high handedness of Germany the EU's statistical office claim that only one in five of the current migrants flooding Europe are Syrians. That accounts for the thousands of dumped passports and other identity documents from non-Syrians found in Serbia, Greece and elsewhere. The papers are from Nigerians, Kenyans, Iraqis and people from a host of other nations. They are clearly not refugees despite what the politically correct might claim.
So why is it personal now with Frau Merkel? Because in a couple of weeks time we are due to arrive in Vienna then Munich by train. Vienna has seen migrants rioting, fighting each other and the local police as has Munich. The authorities are claiming that the numbers of migrants in the coming weeks will increase. Is it really likely that the civil disorder will decrease?
This week two reliable sources, totally unconnected to each other, have warned us not to travel to Munich, especially by train. It is too dangerous. We are currently trying to check the situation in Vienna.
One of my sources has also seen reports from the authorities in Germany stating that attacks on migrants and mosques are not being carried out solely by right wing extremists but migrants of different ethnicities or different sects of Islam. There have been videos on the internet of Turks and Kurds fighting each other on the streets of Hamburg.
What Europe is doing is importing the conflicts of the muslim world, especially the middle east. Brace yourself for a rocky few years. It's no wonder that Arab/muslim countries aren't welcoming these migrants with open arms.

Migrants, Refugees and Racists
Let's clear up one lie about the current influx of immigrants to Europe and specifically Britain. When other countries, and soppy left wing do gooders here, accuse us of not taking our share of refugees remember that no other country in Europe has had up to 330,000 migrants added to their population as we did last year and over 250,000 in each of the last five years or so.
Another lie. Lefties claim the influx of immigrants in recent years has had no impact on our infrastructure and public services. Migrants live in houses, their children need education, they need jobs, they need healthcare. If an influx on the scale we have seen in recent years hasn't had an impact then services like the NHS and education have been massively overfunded with huge spare capacity in recent years. Which means that those lefties claiming that this and the last government have cut services to a dangerous level are lying.
Now to the current invasion of Europe from muslim countries. European Union rules demand that asylum seekers seek refuge in the first country they land in. Hungary quite correctly tried to stop 'refugees' moving north so their applications could be processed, but was pilloried and accused of racism and oppression. They eventually had to let the 'refugees' move north into Austria and Germany. Merkel claims to be happy to accept 500,000 of these migrants into Germany each year. The problem is once they have been validated they can move to any other country in the European Union. Germany is merely offering to act as a clearing house for immigrants. Another reason to leave the EU.
Reports from Hungary suggest that a high proportion of people claiming to be Syrian refugees are lying. Passports and other documents from Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and other nationals have been found in significant numbers at the border with Serbia. There have been several photographs in the mainstream media of jihadists brandishing guns in Syria and photographs of the same men now climbing off boats on a Greek island claiming to be refugees. How many potential terrorists are amongst the thousands crossing to Europe?
The Syrian civil war has been ongoing for five years, why are so many people suddenly fleeing now. Why did the man whose wife and children died in Turkey return to Kobane to bury them if he fled Kobane fearing for the safety of his family? Why did the authorities and the media collude in staging the filming and photographing of the dead little boy on the beach? Turkey is a safe country, the little boys family had been given housing and welfare there for three years, so how can they claim to be refugees when they pitch up in Greece? They are clearly not fleeing any danger in Turkey.
Europe is being invaded. That is not a racist statement, it is fact. When the media thrust a sobbing woman and a child on their front page or news headlines look behind them and you will see the overwhelming majority are young, able bodied men. Take a look at film of Greeks on Lesbos having to witness rioting 'refugees' trashing the place. Take a look at film of 'refugees' rioting outside Budapest's Keleti station. Pretty violent scenes for people supposedly fleeing violence.
The gullible in this country are riding a wave of emotional hysteria, even offering immigrants their spare bedrooms. Open your eyes, look at the facts and stop calling realists racists. I always smell a rat (pun intended) when Bob Geldof jumps on the bandwagon.

Politically Correct Delusion
We may have a Conservative government but we do not have a conservative government. What we have is yet another social democrat government, which we have had for most of the post-WWII era. The exception was probably Mrs Thatcher's government, which is why she is so reviled by the sheep of the left. Whatever you think of her Mrs Thatcher put the country first ahead of vested interests, especially the hated trade unions.
I honestly can't trace a difference between Cameron and Blair, maybe apart from Cameron not yet behaving like a bloodthirsty war criminal, but there's time. Blair opened our borders to limitless numbers of migrants, Cameron welcomed over 333,000 migrants to this country last year, ably continuing the national destruction begun by Blair and his predecessors.
The brainwashed, deluded politically correct who think they are so right might scoff but this country is seen as one of the most attractive, tolerant and civilised countries in the world. If you don't agree then answer this simple question: Why do so many people, wealthy and poor, so desperately want to come and live here?
The fabric of this country is held together by the British people, our institutions that have developed over centuries and our history. These are the things that make this country such an attractive place to live. What we are doing now is destroying that which made us what we are at the behest of social democracy, which is synonymous with political correctness. No country can absorb 250,000 to 33,000 immigrants a year without being fundamentally changed. Witness the record levels of anti-Semitic attracts in the UK and elsewhere in Europe in recent years, largely due to the violent philosophy of Islam, an alien philosophy.
There is an artificial debate about the NHS and other public services, largely centred around the socialist obsession with money. I know the current leftie PC lie about immigration is that immigrants economically contribute to the country, but they don't all. A wealthy businessman coming here to set up a business may create wealth. A beggar from Romania or a barman from Slovakia doesn't add anything, they just redistribute money that is already here. There is also the question of why, with 2,000,000 unemployed we are allowing unskilled people in by the hundreds of thousands, but that's for another time.
The next question for the PC lefties is why don't immigrants use public services? Quite clearly they do, which means they don't just give economically they also take. They need schools, roads, accommodation, healthcare. If you add thousands upon thousands to your population every year of course you are draining public services. If you keep adding beer to a pint pot that is full it overflows and you stop adding beer.
But of course that is common sense, and political correctness ignores common sense and reality. Political correctness is driven by ideology and the brainwashed would rather watch the country die than admit they are wrong.
On an emotional level the politically correct suffer from emotional retardation. They get a nice warm glow by showing off how very much more 'tolerant' and 'caring' they are than us nasty realists. They feel so superior when they can attack realists as 'racists', 'homophobes' or any other 'phobe' they care to unthinkingly throw at realists. As I've said before when they can't do that they accuse realists of being brainwashed by 'the right wing media', usually the Daily Mail.
If you have any doubts about the left's disconnection from reality then look at the Labour Party leadership election. Everybody I know knows somebody who has paid their £3 to register to vote but is not a Labour supporter. Some are lefties wanting to force the Labour Party to the left by voting for Corbyn, others are people on the right wanting to wreck the Labour Party by voting for Corbyn. I'd say that I know of dozens of people who have done this and I know of only one who has had his vote rejected.
Multiply that throughout a nation of 65,000,000 people and I would guess many thousands of people have registered to vote or, infiltrated which is more accurate. But Labour are desperately claiming that there has been negligible infiltration. They have rejected about 3000 peoples' registrations and pretend the job's been done.
It's a bit like Blair claiming that opening our doors to open immigration from the EU would only result in a trickle of immigrants.

Fuck The Swedes!
No, I'm not talking about the vegetable, I'm talking about the immigration minister of Sweden, who does sound like a vegetable actually, just not an edible one. No, this particular veg has waded in to the debacle that is Calais by blaming us and the French. Cheeky bastard!
One of the main problems with the European Union is that jumped up little tinpot shitholes like Sweden get ideas above their station. Well where was Sweden from 1939 to 1945? Nowhere to be seen. Apart from porn and Abba what has Sweden contributed to the world? Nope, I can't think of anything either.
The problem is quite obvious and it's the EU. The border of the EU is effectively the Mediterranean, Turkey, Belarus, the Ukraine and Russia. To say those borders are porous is to state the blatantly obvious. Once inside the EU migrants can move freely from one EU state to another. We have nobody to blame for that than successive British governments.
The fact that migrants don't claim asylum in the first EU state they find themselves in but choose to travel to Calais says two things. Firstly the United Kingdom is clearly an attractive proposition, which is why our population has been growing at the rate of 250,000 per year for several years. Secondly the EU's rule that people should claim asylum in the first country they reach is clearly unenforceable. None of the migrants, if actually asylum seekers, should have reached France let alone Calais. Unless they swam from Africa and up the Channel!
So the immigration minister of Sweden can fuck right off.

Greece, The European Union and Democracy
We all know the EU ignores referenda that don't go their way. But what about Greece, supposedly the birthplace of democracy?
Six months or so ago Syriza were elected in the Greek general election on an anti-austerity platform.
Less than a fortnight ago Syriza, strangely considering their election victory, called a referendum on the proposed EU bail out plan which would impose more severe austerity on Greece.
The Greek people voted No (or oxi) as the government wanted.
So the Syriza government went back to talk to the EU and accepted an even more severe bailout deal, ramping up the level of austerity with tax hikes, pension cuts and privatisation.
Can anybody explain how any of that can be described as 'democratic' please?

Breaking Up and the Referendum
The media coverage given to the Scottish Nazionalists has helped to turn masses of the population against their narrow minded bigotry. The culmination of the tidal turn came yesterday when the historian David Starkey likened them to Hitler's Nazis. The gist of his comments were that, like the Nazis, the SNP have a narrow and extremist nationalism, with socialism thrown in. The Nazis hated the Jews, the SNP are motivated by a hatred of the English. Both have twisted versions of the cross as their symbols, the Nazis the swastika, the SNP the saltire. And you can't escape the fact that men in both groups enjoy bare legs, the Nazis stomping around in lederhosen, the Scots mincing around in kilts. Wonderful comparisons from one of the country's most honest and outspoken historians.
One of the ironies of the Scottish Nazionalists position is that while screaming about independence they want to remain within the European Union. The reason for this is largely because the Scots are one of the world's great subsidy junkies and, while losing their direct cash handouts from us when they leave the UK, they will still be sucking at the tax teat of the EU, including English taxpayers money sent via Brussels.
There is an obnoxiousness around politics generally at the moment that drives decent people out of politics. Attack politicians when they transgress, especially when they break the law, but general attacking in a nasty, vindictive manner only alienates people. The Scottish Nazionalists are adept at this. Some of their members were sending vile messages to Charles Kennedy before he died, including a party official who has since resigned. There are daily reports of people leaving Scotland fearing physical violence if English or Unionist and fearing for the effects of the SNP's Stalinist policies on their businesses. Scotland is seemingly on a daily basis becoming ever more like some tinpot, third world one party state.
The promised EU referendum gives us the chance to shake off the shackles of Brussels. The SNP are claiming that Scotland should only leave the EU if a majority of Scots in Scotland vote for freedom, which they are firmly against. A vote to leave the EU is therefore likely to lead to Scotland finally breaking away from the UK. In some ways that would be a double victory for England, with one referendum we will be free from two bullying, tax sponging entities, Scotland and the EU.
Sadly I doubt this will happen. I have never been confident that Britain would vote to leave the EU in a referendum. We are still waiting to find out the terms of the referendum but I suspect that the whole thing is likely to be weighted against the independence cause. Already the pro-EU camp are lying about millions of job losses if we leave. The government is planning to scrap the 'purdah', the 28 day period before a referendum when the government stays silent on the issue.
Finally we don't know yet how the independence campaign will be structured. Despite getting 4,000,000 votes in the general election UKIP could only scrape in one MP, and he is former Tory MP Douglas Carswell, an extremely popular MP in his constituency. Carswell was on BBC Question Time recently and he was most impressive, indeed he made Nigel Farage look like a music hall act rather than a serious politician. UKIP's lack of credibility makes them a serious liability to the independence cause. Add to the mix the high level of cranks within their ranks and the possibility for serious embarrassment to the cause gives rise to odds that even a non-betting man like me would consider having a flutter on a vote to stay in.
So after all the bluster and hot air I am convinced that after the referendum we will still be in the EU. The Scottish Nazionalists peaked too soon and many of the fifty six loonies elected last month will lose their seats at the next election. Things will bumble along pretty much as they are.

The Madness of the European Union
Now tell me the EU doesn't think we're stupid and treat us like idiots who need spoon feeding. The sooner we're out the better.

With Nick Clegg We're Up Shit Creek!
I saw Wednesday's debate between UKIP's Nigel Farage and Lib Dem Nick Clegg and it really scared me. That Nick Clegg is Deputy Prime Minister terrifies me. I don't rate David Cameron but pray to God that he is never debilitated enough as Prime Minister to leave Clegg in charge. The man is an idiot, and by that I mean thick, unintelligent and plain stupid as well as a smarmy liar.
In the EU debate he offered not a single reasoned argument for staying in but persistently lied that those of us who want to leave want to recreate a Britain of decades ago and want to live in isolation. No we don't you prick, the world is ever smaller in terms of travel and communication and we want to trade with the world not remain locked into a stagnant and ever more authoritarian European superstate. We are not Little Englanders, you are a Little European.
He claims that the EU gave us a market place of 450m people. No it didn't. That market place existed before the EU imposed it's clumsy and costly bureaucracy on us. As did the market place that is billions of people around the world that the EU now imposes tariffs upon. Yes, including the developing world. While we give it billions in aid the developing world is being held back by punitive EU trade charges.
Like Farage I don't believe that we should intervene in Crimea, as we shouldn't in Syria and as we shouldn't have done in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. According to Clegg that makes us Putin lovers. No it doesn't you idiotic prick, it means we are just not bloodthirsty warmongering mongs like you. Since Blair came to power I have been ashamed of my country's readiness to bomb the crap out of foreigners and Cameron and Clegg are as bad as Blair in that.
Our governments slaughter each year millions of people in the name of democracy and we constantly re-elect them. Murder one person and you get slammed in chokey. I'm much more scared of my government than I am of my fellow citizens, especially now I've properly seen how thick our Deputy Prime Minister is.
The only thing that disturbs me as much is that Vince Cable claims that Clegg won the debates. Our Business Secretary is clearly as deluded as Hitler in the bunker in April 1945.

The EU and Russia
The last few weeks have left me aghast with the hypocrisy of the west over Russia and the Ukraine. At times I've been angry at some absolutely fuming. If I was Putin I'd be sticking a middle finger up at the west and telling us to keep out and shut up.
Strange but when the USSR fell the Russian Federation, the heir to the USSR, got on with life while numerous former USSR states became independent, including the Ukraine. That's it put simply and yes there are countless arguments to be had about oligarchs, corruption and so on. But the fact remains that countries such as Ukraine became sovereign independent states. Former serf states of the USSR, such as Romania, Poland and so on were also freed and became truly independent sovereign states again, free of the shackles of soviet socialist domination.
What happened next was that the European Union, as it does, went on an orgy of expansionism. After expanding north, west and south it went towards the East, a process known in pre-WWII Germany as the 'drang nach osten' or 'push to the east'. The EU empire gobbled up the Baltic states, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and the other former USSR satellite states. Then it turned its power grab to the Ukraine. Understandably this made Russia twitchy. Of course the EU doesn't expand its empire in the traditional way, with armies or votes, it buys off governments with our tax money.
As EU cash was thrown at the Ukraine, and the promise of ever more dangled in temptation the Ukrainian government decided to look to Russia as an ally rather than being gobbled up, or bought by the EU empire. Cue western backed riots that led to a coup that overthrew the democratically elected government. How would we feel if a few thousand people rioted in London and it brought down the government? Again the Ukrainian government wasn't whiter than white, but at least it was elected and could have been voted out, the current government has no mandate from the people whatsoever.
Understandably the autonomous region of the Crimea, with an overwhelming ethnic Russian population, held a referendum and the overwhelming majority voted for the Crimea to become part of the Russian Federation. Of course the European Union went into a rage, when the EU has a referendum and the people don't vote the way it wants it just re-runs the referendum until it gets the result it wants, that's the EU's idea of democracy. So the EU doesn't recognise the result of the referendum and the west accuses Russia of expansionism.
It seems to me that Russia has been very patient as the EU has expanded eastwards, with the support of the USA, and it has every right to protect its interests against this western imperialism. My only worry, if I were a Russian citizen, would be what the west may do when you look at its recent record of bombing the crap out of states it decides it's no longer too keen on.

I Don't Understand #2-UKIP
Over the festive period I had conversations with a couple of Eurosceptics, people who I regard as intelligent and pleasant people. Both tried to convince me that voting UKIP in this year's European Union elections will help extricate us from the costly charade that is the EU. They claim that UKIP 'winning' the EU elections will definitely help extricate us from the EU. But I still don't understand how.
It seems quite simple to me. The European elections will elect MEPs. There are around 750 MEPs in total. The UK elects 73 MEPs. To 'win' the election UKIP would have to get 326 MEPs elected. Even then the European Parliament doesn't have the power to expel or allow a member state to leave.
Even if all 73 UK MEPs elected were UKIP they would still not have the power to extricate us. It is only our national parliament that can effect our withdrawal.
UKIP MEPs have some of the poorest attendance and voting records in the European Parliament, largely down to their belief that they are not there to make the EU work better, but to campaign in the UK for withdrawal. I know, because I used to work for a UKIP MEP. But, apart from Farage popping up on Question Time now and then, when did you last receive any information from your UKIP MEP? Indeed, when, apart from at election time, did you last receive any communication from UKIP? Apart from withdrawing from the EU can you, without using Google, name a single UKIP policy?
I was a member of the Anti-Federalist League in the '90s, but didn't keep up my membership when it morphed into UKIP. Although they then had a policy of not fighting EU elections I wasn't convinced that a single issue party could achieve independence for Britain. After a rethink I joined UKIP in 2000, not resigning until after the NEC elections early in 2009. I am more convinced than ever that the party is a lost cause.
If you like statistics this website has all the results from the last EU elections in 2009. Interesting UKIP only increased their vote by 0.3% on their 2004 results. The Tories meanwhile improved on their 2004 result by 1%. In terms of votes UKIP got 2,500,000 Tories 4,200,000. With Labour 6.4% down on 2,400,000 it's hard to see UKIP outperforming both this year. Indeed, I would put money on Labour beating UKIP this time around. Even the Lib Dems, the most pro-EU of the mainstream, could rally and pull back their losses in 2009, their by-election results don't support the theory that their involvement in the coalition will see them wiped out.
What's the point of electing people to a parliament that they believe to be powerless, that they then don't engage in and that they ultimately want to withdraw from? And all that for a salary of £70,000pa plus very generous allowances. Nigel Farage, before becoming a highly paid MEP in 1999, played a key role in changing UKIP's policy of not standing in European elections.
How will voting UKIP send a message to the EU? If voting against the EU's wishes in national referenda are ignored (Ireland, France, Denmark, Holland) how will a few more Godfrey Blooms make a difference?
I don't understand.

New Year Resolution #1-The European Union Elections
It's that time of year when we start thinking about changing our ways as we leave the old year behind us. So here's my starter.
I was at a meeting a few years ago when Enoch Powell was asked how he thought people should vote in the upcoming EU elections, it was some time in the late '80s. His reply was: "I wouldn't soil my hands on a European ballot paper".
So my first resolution for 2014 is to boycott the European Union elections. Voting gives it some element of legitimacy and is a form of collaboration.

Eurosceptic MEPs-What's the Point?
UKIP are making a big deal about their chances of 'winning' the European elections next year. What they mean by 'winning' is unclear as even if every MEP elected in the UK next year is UKIP it would make not one jot of difference to our membership of the EU.
As UKIP rightly point out MEPs have no power and little influence, here or in Europe. As UKIP rightly point out MEPs are costly, overpaid, given far too much in allowances and expenses and have virtually no value. Why then, is a party dedicated to leaving the whole corrupt sham, so desperate to get more of its candidates elected to the corrupt sham than any other party? It makes no sense.
UKIP's track record doesn't stand any kind of scrutiny. They have some of the worst attendance records in the EuroParl but still get paid a huge salary, expenses and allowances. Enjoying the gravy train? Surely not!
On matters of policy, other than the EU, they fight like ferrets in a sack. Since the last elections in 2009 they have lost 4 MEPs, David Campbell Bannerman, Marta Andreason, Mike Nattrass and Nikki Sinclaire. Bizarrely loose cannon (political euphemism for nutjob) Godfrey Bloom MEP lost the whip, remains a UKIP member but sits as an independent MEP. Previously two former UKIP MEPs went to clink for fraud.
In May they trumpeted about their best local election results ever. Since then numerous councillors have defected to other parties and others have been disciplined for dodgy comments on social media sites. In one authority a group of UKIP councillors have broken away to form a separate group to the official UKIP group. They can't get on with each other so the rest of us have no chance.
Today I have been on my old friend Nikki Sinclaire's blog. Nikki was treated shabbily by UKIP and is now an independent MEP in the West Midlands and has launched her We Demand A Referendum Party . But yet again the party intends to fight next year's Euro elections and, if they win any, will take up their seats. Why?
Nikki is currently banging on in her blog about councillors getting free meals before council meetings, not a common practice in my experience but is that really what costly MEPs should be spending their time campaigning about? What about the hugely generous expenses and allowances that MEPs receive, far more generous than rubber chicken and chips before the odd meeting? And is an MEP really paid all that cash to arrange collections outside supermarkets for foodbanks? I don't think so.
The problem is that Eurosceptics have been suckered into the very corrupt organisation that they claim to loathe. Getting elected to the EuroParl, with its dodgy PR system, is far easier than winning First Past the Post elections. Hence UKIP have MEPs but no MPs. Once suckered in they are seduced by their new found status and all the baubles that go with it. Once an MEP gets used to that thumping salary, generously supplemented by a huge array of expenses and allowances, they look at the real world and fear what a drop in cash and status they would face if they lost their seats. They go native.
It is my intention to abstain/spoil my ballot paper in the European elections next year. I have yet to hear a Eurosceptic MEP expose anything in the EU that hadn't or wouldn't have been exposed in the media anyway and, as much as anything, even having worked for an MEP, I just cannot see the point of Eurosceptic MEPs other than to make a few people quite wealthy.

Sajjad Karim MEP
Sajjad Karim is Conservartive MEP for North West England. If, like me, you want to see the UK independent of the EU superstate he likens you to the Taliban. The man is plainly mad, he calls me Taliban I call him money grubbing hypocritical scum.
He also doesn't understand that if a majority of people hold a particular viewpoint then the majority view prevails. It may be one sided, but that's democracy.
Karim was elected an MEP in 2004 as a Liberal Democrat. As he knew he would likely not be re-elected in 2009 he jumped ship and became a Tory. Below is the press release issued yesterday by this shining example of freedom loving democracy:

Don't Blame UKIP-Blame Cameron!
The Tory Party is in denial, and UKIP is their convenient scapegoat. But let's be perfectly blunt, the reason they are heading for defeat is David Cameron. The man is a totally unprincipled, clueless, uncharismatic chancer who has blown his opportunity. So the Tories blame Farage, a totally unprincipled, clueless chancer who at least has a little charisma, but ultimately is a con man who will be exposed by the glare of publicity heading his way.
Cameron and the Tories claim that they must occupy the centre ground. But all that seems to mean is 'let's piss everybody off, not just the wet pinko liberals'. Ultimately it means trying to be all things to all men and it just doesn't work. Tory activists who try to defend this government increasingly sound like occupants of a certain Berlin bunker in April 1945, or Comical Ali as US troops marched into Baghdad. 'Swivel eyed loons' maybe?
What the Tory Party leadership has done, is what the party has been doing for decades, it has driven solid hard working supporters into the arms of a party whose leadership, not just its membership, consists primarily of swivel eyed loons. Attacking and vilifying defectors from your own party is hardly going to tempt them back. What the Tory Party needs to do is to stop being so arrogant and aloof and look at the real reasons, reasons far deeper than the mere existence of loonies like Farage and UKIP.
It is evident to most people that the desire to be free of the shackles of the EU, and the need to control immigration, are two positions that are based on common sense. A majority in this country clearly have deep concerns about these issues, they therefore represent the centre ground. The more Cameron and company cling to their nice cosy idea of their own peculier centre ground then the more activists and volunteer branch officers will walk away. Cameron seems happier pissing off his party activists than pissing off the political elite in London's trendy bars and tearooms.
You only have to look at the set of daydreams that UKIP call policies to see that apart from leaving the EU, they still have no credible philosophy or practical policies. Indeed, it makes a dedicated anti-EU campaigner like me wonder if membership of the EU would actually be preferable to an independent Britain under UKIP rule. Their policies are every bit as barking mad as those of the EU, Farage and his MEPs have learnt well during their time on the gravy train.
With two years to go there may just be a chance of the Tories changing and taking a common sense approach but that would mean ditching Dave. Even then it would be a tall order, but at least there would be the chance to install a leader who could use common sense and start rebuilding after the defeat in 2015 that looks increasingly inevitable.
Let's face it, Cameron couldn't win the 2010 general election when Brown was the loathed, ridiculed and generally despised successor to Blair. What chance against Miliband in 2015 when you have driven a sizeable proportion of your natural supporters out of the party? Sitting on the sidelines, playing nicely with Clegg and Cable while blaming UKIP is patently absurd and lazy. It's Dave stupid!

UKIP and Marta Andreasen-The Farce Lingers On
![]() |
| Farage or Petain? |
Over the following few years I had the misfortune to suffer his company on many occasions as he became increasingly megalomaniac and obnoxious. On one occasion he was lost in Manchester trying to find a hotel I had booked for him and his 'lady researcher', we were demonstrating outside the Tory conference next day. Only a clown would phone somebody 60 miles away and state that he didn't have a clue where he was in Manchester then ask if I could I direct him to the hotel. Obviously not, you do need a start point when giving directions but he was too dumb to realise. Then, when I suggested he ask a pedestrian for directions he told me he was scared to do that because there were too many Tories about and they don't like him. Man of steel? I don't think so.
So I wasn't surprised when Marta Andreasen MEP resigned on Friday to join the Tories citing Farage's attitude to women and his Stalinism. She's spot on. That led me to ponder the other UKIP MEPs over the years. It's not gratifying reading really, but in no particular order here we go:
Ashley Mote: Went to chokey for fiddling housing benefit prior to climbing aboard the gravy train.
Tom Wise: Went to chokey for fiddling his expenses.
Michael Holmes: One of the three MEPs elected in 1999, Farage being another. Holmes resigned as leader and left the party soon after being elected.
David Campbell Bannerman: Defected to the Tories in 2011, he was elected in 2009.
Nikki Sinclaire: Forced out of UKIP after refusing to sit in their group in the EU Parliament alongside assorted right-wing nutters, racists and homophobes from other European countries. I should declare that I worked as Nikki's campaign manager for three months in the 2010 general election and that I worked from 2004 to the end of 2008 for John Whittaker MEP.
Marta Andreasen: Resigned last week to join the Tories.
Nigel Farage: Too many scandals to list here, including putting his wife on his payroll without anybody in UKIP ever knowing, and certainly not knowing what she did when it came to light.
The problem is UKIP MEPs do very little work, they have some of the poorest attendance records in the EU Parliament and rarely attend or contribute to committee meetings. They have gone native and are now just a small group of people making themselves very wealthy, while doing very little, at our expense. No wonder they do nothing but bicker, stab each other in the back and resign, as the saying goes, the devil makes work for idle hands.
We didn't defeat the Nazis by joining them did we? Petain tried that little number in France and look how Vichy ended up. Sadly it looks like Farage is the latter day Petain leading a Vichy party on the gravy train they claim to oppose while achieving nothing for the UK.

David Cameron and that EU Speech
Having read the speech I can't help concluding that it was just fluff and bull. In fact it was just fluff and bull, definitely.
I have debated membership of the EU over the years with Lib Dems and people from other parties, and Eurofanatics from the European Movement. Not once have I heard a really convincing argument for our continued membership.
The EU has kept the peace in Europe since 1945? No it hasn't, that was NATO, the Cold War and the threat of mutual annihilation.
We would lose trade if we left? No we wouldn't. EU countries would not refuse to sell us cars, wine and so on in a fit of pique if we left.
Europe is the sick man of the world. We need to rid ourselves of all the rules, regulation and bureaucracy that is stifling Europe and turning it into a stagnant mess. We need to be confident and look to the world, Brazil, China, India and other countries that are the economic future.
But enough, to Cameron's speech. Don't just take my word for what a load of waffle it was, read the full transcript here in the Spectator.

David Cameron-Unprincipled Coward
![]() |
| Clueless! |
So he hides behind the crisis in Algeria. What is he planning to do, pull his trollies on over his trousers a la Superman, fly under his own steam to the desert and single-handedly free the hostages? With a ludicrously high number of government departments, ministers, junior ministers, advisers and bureaucrats don't tell me that, in this modern age of communication, Cameron couldn't delegate and still make his much trumpeted speech. No, the man is a charlatan and the Tories should bin him immediately.
The truth is that Cameron is scared witless of the EU and is terrified that it will be his downfall, which it must be if he continues to lie and hide his real beliefs on our relationship with the EU in order to pull the wool over the eyes of the electorate. The man is beneath contempt.
