General Election 2015-Liberal Democrats

I know we shouldn't speak ill of the dying but come on, the Liberal Democrats? I think the last five years have shown what many involved in politics have known and stated for decades, that the Liberal Democrats are unprincipled political whores who would sell their souls for short term political gain. Oh, sorry, they did sell their souls for short term political gain. Remember them scurrying like rats through a sewer after the last election from Cameron to Brown begging to join their gangs? Not one of British politics sunnier episodes and look at the last five years, no wonder they are set for meltdown.

I could go on but there are only so many hours in the day. But next time one of those pious, holier than thou Lib Dems claims that they are not like the other parties just remember , they are actually like the other parties, but with even fewer principles.

The highlight of the last general election night was seeing misfit Lib Dem Lembit Opik lose his seat. The highlight this year will surely be seeing misfit Lib Dem Nick Clegg losing his seat. Bring it on!

Vicky Pryce-More Lib Dem Hypocrisy

While I strongly believe that those who commit crime should be rehabilitated the case of Vicky Price stinks of hypocrisy and double standards. You may remember she was the missus of Chris Huhne who went to chokey for lying about taking his speeding points for him. It went on for a long period of time and only came out when he buggered off with another woman and Ms Pryce wanted to vent her spleen, or drop him in it.


Vince Cable, often seen as the most effective leader of the opposition in the current parliament, has taken her on as a government advisor. So a loony like Cable, whose instinct is to pass ever more interfering, nanny state laws that he expects the rest of us to obey, is happy to be advised by a jailbird. (Full story)


At a time when confidence in politicians is as low as it has ever been, and confidence in our democracy is at a similar low, what kind of idiot invites her back as a government advisor? An idiot Lib Dem like Vince Cable.

Lies, Socialists and Hypocrisy

It never ceases to amaze me how the socialists constantly bang on about the Tories attempting to privatise the NHS. Since the late seventies I've heard lefty after lefty banging on about them privatising the NHS, and it hasn't happened yet. But still they are banging on about it. Lies, lies, lies. If only the Tories had the guts to do it I may consider voting for them again.

Then I still hear them banging on about Margaret Thatcher. Even now the loonier fringe of the socialist movement will blame Mrs Thatcher if there is an outbreak of flu. But then dare to blame the Labour governments from 1997 to 2010 for the financial mess we are in, or for the murderous mess they made of the NHS, and they claim innocence citing being ousted in 2010. Hypocrites as well as liars.

Hypocrisy In Football

The Professional Footballers' Association have announced their wish to have racist players sacked. The PFA is a trade union, albeit a trade union that represents a lot of extremely wealthy 'workers'.

What I don't understand is what constitutes racism these days. In the heat of battle does calling a player a black/white bastard, or similar, constitute racism? In my view that's juvenile name calling and the player should be told to grow up and stop being a prat by his manager and teammates.

A player declaring his intention to injure another player because of his race is a serious issue, as it would be if a club declared it's intention not to sign players of a particular race. But as far as I'm aware there have been no cases of these types of racism in recent years, certainly not in England.

A football player is soon to be released from chokey after serving around half his sentence for killing two children while twice over the drink drive limit. He will be going straight to a new club that he has been training with on his day release in preparation for permanent release.

In 2004, another professional footballer was found guilty of causing the death by dangerous driving of a pedestrian and leaving the scene of the accident. He walked straight from chokey into a contract with another professional football club.

You will find on that list serial offenders who have committed pretty unpleasant crimes, but served their time and gone straight back into professional football.

It's interesting that the PFA don't seem to be so strident about their members who kill people, attack their wives/girlfriends or persistently drink and drive.

Socialist Hypocrites

Manchester City Council wants to charge people for using the NHS. Where's the uproar? Free at point of delivery? Not if this Labour Council gets its way. Where are all the whining socialists who have been claiming these last 50 years that the Tories are about to privatise the glorious nationalised health system now Labour are actually threatening to charge for it?

Oh, it's for people using A&E because they've been drinking, so that's OK then. Well it's not OK actually, but I suppose now the gullible majority of the population have been softened up by the puritanical propaganda of the health fascists, they'll just accept it, 'for our own good'.

Well just think about this, drinking will be the thin end of the wedge, these things always are. If they get away with this what will be next? Maybe you end up breaking a leg on a football field on a Sunday morning. Silly boy, you chose to play a dangerous game, why should taxpayers pay for your treatment? You caused that nasty car crash did you? Well here's a bill for your treatment. Well, if you're daft enough to go jogging at your age, and in your condition, it's no surprise you've had a heart attack. Here's your bill for treatment.

Here are a few scenarios to ponder:

Fred is on his merry way home from the pub after 10 pints. He's perfectly merry but gets jumped by a couple of stone cold sober chavs who kick him unconscious and nick his wallet. When he is found unconscious by the police and taken to A&E does he have to pay? No witnesses.

In 1980 a group of us had left the pub and were on our way to a club in Manchester. On Market Street I was kicking a can for a football. The girl I was with kicked the can and her clog flew off. As it did a friend of mine turned to say something to us and the clog hit him full on the nose. Hilarious for us, not for him, he ended up in A&E with a broken nose. He was drunk but the accident was not down to drink. Should he have had to pay?

And when people start whining about the cost to the NHS of dealing with drunks, remember how much those drinkers have put into the kitty in alcohol duty, income tax, national insurance and every other exhorbitant tax the government stings us for.

Remember, the thin end of the wedge.

David Laws and the Politics of Hypocrisy

So the new government is no better than the last one. Is anybody really surprised?

Cameron, Osborne and others creeping around fraudster David Laws made me feel nauseous this weekend. A man of integrity? He fiddled his expenses to keep quiet the fact that he is gay. That makes him a stinking hypocrite as well as a fraudster and Cameron and company are no better for defending him.

As well as all that, they look forward to welcoming him back into government when he is ready! How's that for sticking two fingers up at the electorate? I'm sure they could bump David Chaytor and his pals into the House of Lords and give them government positions in the coalition too.

Political Hypocrites

They do talk crap, we all know that, but I've heard two cracking examples of stinking hypocrisy in the last few hours.

I'm always happy to blame politicians as they are usually wrong, lying, incomptetent etc. But last night an ugly Tory woman on TV, I think it was Caroline Spelman, was lambasting the government for not preparing for this weather in September or October, so that local authorities wouldn't now be struggling to buy grit and salt.

Utter stinking hypocrisy. Even I can't blame the government for this situation. Like most Labour, Tory and Lib Dem MPs it's a freak of nature. If Spelman can produce evidence of her, or other Tories' demands for action from the government in September/October, then her whining may have some credibility. But there isn't any, so keep your big trap shut, you just make yourself look ridiculous.

Talking of politicians looking ridiculous we now have Iris Robinson looking foolish, then making herself look even more foolish and so it goes on. Despite declaring herself a born again Christian, who thinks politicians should be doing God's work, she couldn't resist a bit of 'extras'. Yes she decided to relive the Anne Bancroft Mrs Robinson role in the classic film The Graduate and seduced a 19 year old.

She has now been accused of using her position to help the lad obtain £50,000 for a business and taking a cut herself. Her initial reason for resigning was suicidal feelings due to depression. Politician speak for being pissed off at being rumbled.

But the best was last night when she refused to issue a statement about the accusations 'on health grounds'.

Then politicians wonder why we loathe them.

Jim Fitzpatrick, Hero Or Hypocrite?

Labour minister Jim Fitzpatrick walked out of a Muslim wedding refusing to join in the segregation of men and women. Read all about it.

Is he right to say that enough is enough, when in Rome they should do as the Romans do? Or is he a two faced hypocrite who should practice what he preaches?

He's a stinking two faced hypocrite in my opinion. His party has preached multi-culturalism for years, anybody questioning it falling foul of the state's thought police. Now it has affected him he opposes that aspect of which he personally disapproves.

Try demonstrating your disapproval of Islamic extremism if you live on a sink estate, PC Plod will feel your collar faster than you can say allah akbar.

Hypocrites (Part 2)

Hypocrisy has always riled me, it must be one of the most unpleasant human traits. I would much rather somebody be brutally honest than hypocritical. There was an excellent example of crass hypocrisy this week.

My wife was out and about in Lancaster and bumped into an old friend of mine. We lost touch about 10 months or so ago, as people do. We are all guilty I suspect, of losing touch with people at some time or other. It happens and that's life, the longer you have not been in contact the more difficult making contact somehow becomes.

But this particular person gushed and smarmed and declared how he had 'tried to contact me a couple of times' blah-blah-blah. For God's sake, people lose touch! Accept it but don't bullshit, especially in this day and age. What does 'tried to make contact' mean? He has my landline number, my mobile number, my email address. He is an hour away by car if there is some kind of mega communication breakdown. But I know he is not the kind of person to fail a simple task like contacting somebody.

He hadn't bothered to try and contact me and I hadn't him either, that's life. Just admit it, there's no shame. Or just don't mention it, but please don't bullshit that really is crass hypocrisy.

OK, in the scheme of things it isn't up there with mass murder, rape or animal buggery. But it says a helluva lot about the culprit's character.

By contrast an old mate, who I lost touch with after a disagreement three or more years ago, turned up on our doorstep last week. We had a pint and he apologised for his part in the falling out and I apologised for my part, it was actually a 50:50 thing, silly misunderstandings that we both overreacted to. But neither of us bullshitted, meaning neither of us was hypocritical, and we are good buddies again, thankfully. The hypocrite on the other hand, can piss right off, and we haven't fallen out.

I've no doubt we all do things in our lives that are, or appear, hypocritical at some time, but we try not to. However, there are people who seem to think hypocrisy is a valid tactic in the field of human interaction. They are the ones I despise.

Now then, I have wondered for some time if this scenario represents the definition of hypocrisy, airing it might help me decide. Maybe 'X' in this scenario is the personification of hypocrisy, if such a thing exists. Let's see:

Imagine 'X' is your political party's chairman for your region, let's say the North West of England. You are voted to lead that party list for a forthcoming election to public office. However, things you have witnessed over a period of time make you uneasy and you have doubts. So, over a period of time you regularly meet 'X' for a lunchtime curry, to discuss your concerns.

'X' has a deep hatred for 'Y', seen widely as your rival. 'X' has a hatred of 'Y' that runs so deep that he won't even accept a dink from 'Y' at a meeting at a local hotel. 'X' urges you to fight if only to keep 'Y' out.

You explain that you feel the party leader is a charlatan lacking morals, principles and real belief, 'X' agrees with you and proclaims his belief that the party is going nowhere. This convinces you that you must do the right thing and step down. 'X' cries: "No, that will allow 'Y' in, don't do it."

He then urges you to remain on the list, get elected, then immediately stand down to become an independent. For you that was another nail in the party's coffin. You stood down.

Some months later 'X' stood for the party's ruling body, proposed by guess who? Yes, you guessed it, 'Y'.

'X' is now on the ruling body, and 'Y' is in a very, very senior position.

And you think the three old parties have 'a pretence of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that they do not not really possess!'

Yankophobia and Pinko Liberals!

David Aaronovitch is a writer who often enrages me, but in this article from the Times today I have to say he is absolutely spot on.

It always strikes me that pinko liberals go berserk if you criticise a whole group, let alone a whole nation or, God forbid, a whole race. But when it comes to the USA it's open season, the whole nation is fat, greedy, drives cars that do 2 miles to the gallon and have no culture whatsoever. They are loud, rude and all wear outrageous Hawaiian shirts and baseball caps back-to-front. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Pinko liberals have this sickly habit of referring to what we used to call 'Red Indians' as 'native Americans', when in reality they were originally immigrants themselves, they just got there slightly earlier than the Dutch, English etc. Now this to me implies that they, 'native Americans', have more of a claim than whites who have only been there a couple of hundred years. But you try using that argument about 'native Britons' and the whole PC armoury is pointed directly at your head.

Another example of left-liberal hypocrisy is their criticism of British migrants. You know the ones I mean, they go to Spain or France and turn villages into little England with shops that sell HP sauce and Fray Bentos pies, they don't mingle and integrate with the locals like they should and never bother to learn the lingo. Then you point out that it's a bit like Cheetham Hill in Manchester, or Brick Lane in London where migrants to this country have done the same thing and they go apoplectic with rage, scream that it is a totally different thing and call you a racist.

Personally I think life is too short. If a Briton abroad wants to eat pie and chips let him, and nobody loves Brick Lane more than I do. It's the hypocrisy that gets to me. I can't be doing with all this splitting the population into racial groups and long for the day the far-left and far-right drop racial politics and see us all as human beings, period, as the Americans say.

The Guardian

I want to make it clear that I do not read The Guardian, I think it is vile and patronising. However, I do read The Week which I can thoroughly recommend, and there are usually articles in there from The Guardian.

Yesterday I spent 6 hours on a train travelling to London and back, not for the sheer fun of it but for a work related meeting. As a consequence I read The Week from cover to cover and was appalled to read an article, from The Guardian, by Seumas Milne. By the way the name Seumas is just one of several Celtic versions of James. I can't find an electronic version of the article so here is the gist of it.

Milne argues that the radical left should now turn to religion in order to bring about the change it desires. Previously religions have traditionally backed the state and the etablished order, but times have changed. He cites the Catholic church attacking "savage Capitalism" and urges the left, who have traditionally been atheistic if not violently opposed to religion, that "the Left's struggle should take place within religion, not against it".

Lovely article that superbly highlights the complete stinking hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy of The Guardian, Seumas Milne and Socialism in all its forms.
