Libertarian Party UK

I've finally done it. After nearly two years of doubt, and nearly doing it, I have joined the Libertarian Party and it feels very refreshing.

If you are curious I suggest you click on the title of this post, or one of the links to the left, to find out more.

Gregg,

Sorry mate, but I think you have made a mistake. This Libertarian Party looks like a nice little outfit but it won't get anywhere - look how long it took UKIP to get noticed and even now we have people say they have not heard of UKIP.

It would be good to have you back in UKIP with your pals, we worked well together in Crewe and could do so again, especially this year in the Euro elections.

That's very kind Ian, thank you.

I really am looking forward to 'doing my bit' and getting involved.

Yes Derek I do have some very good friends, and memories, from my time in UKIP. However, I fear that while UKIP becomes ever more obsessed with the EU elections, to the detriment of efforts to get into our own parliament, authoritarianism be it EU or Whitehall imposed, is destroying ever more of our freedoms.

I fear UKIP's current leaders are also taking the Party down an increasingly authoritarian path which I oppose.

Welcome aboard Gregg. This is a long term project for me, so hopefully we can at least pull this country in the right direction.

UKIP is still my EU protest vote though and I don't see why others can't do the same.

Welcome aboard Gregg. It feels good when you've finally made a difficult decision after much hesitation, doesn't it? I think you'll fit in well with us. Although we're building this party up from scratch, I'm hopeful that we'll eventually be able to achieve great things. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Go Greggster!
Fully agree with your point on UKIP's increasing authoritarian outlook. Just look at the girly hissy fit when Sean Gabb spoke at the southern wassname, and the lack of dissent when that bastard Spink voted in favour of 42 days internment.
I see little point in exiting the EU only to enact statist laws of our own.
UKIP seems to have virtually nothing to say on any issue apart from how much they hate the Romans. It's no good bleating about how it's those nasty fellows in the media not passing it on either. Just look at the UKIP website itself, virtually nothing which is non-EU based. As I keep saying, Chris blooming Davies only has to break wind and he's in the papers.
UKIP are finished, we will look back upon the last EU 'election' as a blip and will only be left to wonder if the opportunity was wasted by incompetence or by sabotage.

Thanks Stuart and Matt.

Come on Lurch-go for it.

Having to pull Sean's invitation to Morecambe was a big factor in my disillusionment and I agree with your comments on UKIP, as you knew from conversations we had over the last 10 months or so I was there.

Hi Greg, found you again! I kept getting the message your blog had been removed! I think I've got to echo what Derek Bennett said but ultimately we all make our own decisions. I left the Labour Party when it was taken over by the new right (or Tony Blair as he was known then) and used as a tool for personal ambition rather than as a vehicle for good. I often wonder if I should have stayed in and fought rather than left. UKIP isn't perfect and I know (as do you) that there are problems behind the scenes but I'll keep on fighting this time!
