Atheist and Humanist Obsessives

As the census approaches the atheist/humanists are getting all excited again, it's a little like the time of the visit of Pope Benedict XVI. In fact so obsessive do they appear to be becoming that my beloved blogged about it last night on Rosie's Forum. Like many of us she gets tired of being lectured at and patronised by self-righteous zealots such as Dawkins and company.

I know pleanty of atheists and they just get on with their lives and we rub along very nicely thank you very much. Occasionally we might discuss religion and put our arguments over enthusiastically but in a civilised way. What they do not do is obsess about religion, a god in whom they disbelieve or my religious views. They are atheists, and that's it.

What I can't understand, and doubt I ever will, is why certain atheists appear to have turned their atheism into an alternative belief system. It's as though they are desperate for approval, or want to use their disbelief to form some kind of community to comfort themselves within. There are plenty of things I don't believe in, but I don't waste my time thinking about them let alone boring everybody to death banging on about what I don't believe in.

Why waste time and effort proclaiming that you don't believe in something? It's very bizarre.

I always marvel at this strange behaviour.

I frequent some Christian forums and some of the atheists post more than most Christians. Morning noon and night, they are there, ridiculing.

It's bizarre and almost as if they're attracted to Christians for some unknown reason.

They really do obssess at our 'sky fairies' and such like.

If they think we are believing in 'imaginary friends' then why do they bother themsleves so?

They will never leave us in peace that's for sure.

I hate to say it, but maybe deep down there is a belief they are supressing.

If your faith was simply a faith then we wouldn't post.

It isn't, so we do.

Nice for somebody to comment and prove our point Stuart, and to prove Dwight Eisenhower's quote at the top of my blog to be spot on.

Hi,

I don't believe you believe what you wrote - surely you are not that unobservant.

I am NOT an aetheist as that presupposes a likelihood that some idiotic bronze age superstition has some meaningfull reality!

However you are welcome to believe whatever you like - sadly however the viewpoint is not reciprocated.

I am by law denied the fundamental right to choose the time and nature of my own death just to suit someone elses quite idiotic and clearly arcane superstition.

Further I may, to suit their obscene rituals, find myself kept alive in pain, and demeaned ignominy in denial of my fundamental choice and thus I believe right to Euthenasia.

Further these superstitions are imposed - particularly on women who are denied the civilised right to terminate a foetus that they may neither want nor be able or willing to sustain.

Of course there is sound revulsion that some farcical sky pixie should feature in decision making for rational individuals who do not subscribe to all these many gods that mankind has invented - many to an almost identical formula!

I do not seek to impose my views on those who have chosen to worship gods and believe what to me is arrant nonsense but I do resent the fact their superstitions are imposed upon me, against my will.

Regards,
Greg_L-W.

So the appropriate response to your OP is silence ?

Nice one. ;-)

LOL. Indeed Gregg, indeed!

If you wish to commit suicide feel free, I wouldn't dream of trying to stop you.

The abusive tone of your comment, Greg, does neither you nor your position any favours. At least I respect those with whom I disagree.

Hello again Stuart

Then you get the usual incoherent rant from the notorious Greg Lance-Watkins.

It could be an absurd caricture of the obsessive atheist/humanist I was talking about. Except I know he means it sadly.

You should read his blogs about UKIP!!

Mr Baird, your comment was an incoherent statement that didn't invite a response.

Paul Baird. I have no clue what you are meandering about.

Either leave a comment that actually makes sense, in which case you will no doubt receive a response, or stop commenting because I will not post any more nonsensical comments from you.

You are obviously a crashing bore.

Ok I'll point it out to you as you are obviously incapable of understandiongb the basics of communication.

What the hell does that gibberish mean.

More gibberish that means nothing to other than yourself. My OP? Gibberish.

You are a prat and I am now blocking you.

Goodbye.

I am not a christian but Paul Baird is mad. He is certainly to be avoided.

A quick internet search will show you what I mean.

Yes Anonynmous, I take your point. It seems that even on his own blog he has to be asked to stop going around in circles and so on.

He seems to have more to say than is worth reading.

He proves the point of this post more than adequately.
